Gpu hardware acceleration

Today, is it better to have it activated or not? I've tried both ways and I don't really appreciate the difference in DCS, I've also tried too with variable synchronism and no changes. I ask this because they say that it is better to deactivate it but the posts where I have read it are very old.

The tests are with MT and in VR with an RTX 3090 24 Gb.Should you Enable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling? - Appuals.comnull1.273 × 853

Agreed, I used to have it switched off. Have been running with it on for a couple of weeks and I see no obvious benefit nor degradation in performance as a result.

Apparently both HAGS and Game Mode have come a long way since their first inception. I have an AMD system so I don't have HAGS available, but for example Game Mode gives me an extra +/- 15% performance. Quite welcome in VR, I'd say 🙂
If you don't notice a difference between having HAGS on or off, I'd say leave it on? Other games that you play might benefit from it...

Hi Raven, is it not available because your gpu is an AMD? I wasn't aware this made a difference.

In VR, turning it on now makes a notable improvement for me which I mentioned here. However, it could be only AMD cpu users and / or WMR headset users, or maybe CPU's with the 3D cache seeing the large benefits

Indeed. It only shows up in Windows if you have an nVidia graphics card.

Oh, well thanks for sharing that.

it does seem there is a fairly recent preview driver that supports it (23.5.1?) in May 2023, or has it since been removed again from the very latest drivers?

Where do you find that page, in my case windows 10 LTSC?

For HAGS on regular w10 settings > system > display > graphics > change default graphics settings... For LTSC no idea... It's not really designed for home users...

Jackd,

I'm pretty sure the only thing Game Mode does is run everything else in the background at low framerates to minimize the CPU load. If you have a modern PC with, say, 8 or more CPU cores (or 6 really fast ones such as a Ryzen 5 7600X) then it probably makes no difference either in DCS or anything else.

You can try turning it on or off as you wish, I've done so but never really noticed any difference.

It also prevents driver updates and restart notifications, as well as trying to de-prioritise non-game processes...
