Th3ChosenOn3 Posted October 14, 2023 Posted October 14, 2023 Just played 5 hours with the latest version of AMD Fluid Motion Frames that came out yesterday, and wow I was blown away! They improved the frame pacing a lot, and it seems to correctly sync with my freesync monitor now as I had no visible tearing. It still turns off when it detects fast movements (like swinging my head around quickly), but for the majority of my flights it remained on and I had a extremely smooth experience. Don't know yet how well it works on 6000 series, but I'd definitely recommend checking the current version of AFMF in DCS if you have a compatible GPU. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-rad-win-23-30-afmf-tech-preview 2 AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | ASRock X670E Steel Legend | 64GB (2x32GB) G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000MHz CL32 | XFX RX 7900 XTX Merc 310 24GB GDDR6 | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe | Corsair HX1000i 1000W 80+ Platinum (2022) | Meta Quest 3 512GB | Dell S3422DWG 34" 144Hz UWQHD (3440x1440) | VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base & Grip with 200mm VPC Flightstick Extension | VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle | VPC ACE Collection Rudder Pedals | VPC Control Panel #2 & VPC SharKa-50 Control Panel

Everything Maxed out, with FSR 2 on Ultra Quality (0.77 Scale) with 0.8 Sharpening. I get about 50% more FPS compared to MSAA 4x in the one scene I tested (40 FPS with MSAA 4X, 45 FPS with MSAA 2X and 60 FPS with FSR 2 Ultra Quality), at the tradeoff of a bit of ghosting on small objects and shimmering on very small details like fences. I also tried out TAA and NIS but got a lot more ghosting and shimmering compared to FSR for some reason along with slightly lower performance, so I wouldn't recommend using those at the moment. Here's the FSR Preset scale values, in case anyone wanted them: 1.00 = FSRAA / DLAA equivalent 0.77 = Ultra Quality 0.67 = Quality 0.59 = Balanced 0.50 = Performance 0.33 = Ultra Performance 1 2 AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | ASRock X670E Steel Legend | 64GB (2x32GB) G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000MHz CL32 | XFX RX 7900 XTX Merc 310 24GB GDDR6 | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB NVMe | Corsair HX1000i 1000W 80+ Platinum (2022) | Meta Quest 3 512GB | Dell S3422DWG 34" 144Hz UWQHD (3440x1440) | VPC MongoosT-50CM2 Base & Grip with 200mm VPC Flightstick Extension | VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle | VPC ACE Collection Rudder Pedals | VPC Control Panel #2 & VPC SharKa-50 Control Panel

Yeah - unfortunately the way they implemented it in DCS has same issues as MSFS for example, any fast movements will be horribly ghosted, F18 fuel numbers for example and even on highest settings all of these make cockpit very blurry, don't find them usable in VR. There used to be a shader/plugin mod "3dmigoto" or something that allowed FXAA in a way thay only covered things outside the cockpit, that was perfect, but doesnt work anymore. In F16 i cant read any text from the screens and barely any labels without leaning forward with any of these new AA/DLSS/FSR settings but without any AA they are crystal clear. Hoped this would help me go from steady 60 fps to 90 fps with RTX3090 but i guess i just need to start saving for 4090, heh. Better than 2xMSAA using both DLSS or DLAA. I have the sharpness slider set all the way to the right and LOD set to 0.5 as recommended by ED.Sent from my SM-S908U using Tapatalk

It gives a resolution close to 3000x1260. That's a resolution between 3440x1440 and 2560x1080. My system cannot quite run well with the native resolution of my display (3440x1440), and 2560x1080 seems too blurry. ~3000x1260 hits the sweet spot between good FPS and not being too blurry. Currently I'm running image sharpening 0.9, but even that doesn't seem quite enough... Maybe it's because of the slight ghosting. Yeah, there's definitely some ghosting. I don't notice it otherwise but when looking at the gauges and displays. Literally 4090 levels of performance. It was wild. Are you referring to full motion frames? From what I can tell, this DOES NOT work in DCS VR. I've enabled it, and it makes absolutely 0 difference. No change in quality or performance, and AMD Adrenaline isn't even recognizing DCS as running. I don't think it knows DCS is a game, even though I've manually added it. If you've got it working, can you advise how? Edit: And to make things worse, I had been using Radeon Chill to lock frames at 45 and reduce stutter. Now that I've enabled (and disabled) FMF, it has locked anti lag on - even with FMF off, I can't turn anti lag off. Which means I can't turn chill back on.... Thanks! Sandman1330 Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 I have gotten it "working". I put air quotes around "working", as I don't see any perceptible difference whatsoever. AMD Adrenaline tells me it's on, and the AMD FPS overlay reflects the increase in FPS, but in the headset.... nothing. No perception of increased FPS whatsoever, and no frame gen artefacting (which I'd expect to see at least some). I can only conclude that, while the driver may be generating those extra frames, they aren't making it across the WMR bridge into DCS. I still have a smoother experience using Radeon Chill to lock FPS at 45 (half refresh rate). This removes most micro stutters and greatly smooths out my experience. With FMF on, the stuttering returns as if I was still running around at 60fps. Note, that in order to get it "working", I had to select "use DCS system resolution in mirror" in the VR settings. This made the mirror full screen and that's when Adrenaline started reporting FMF was working. boostAU Posted November 18, 2023 Posted November 18, 2023 You have to make sure Fullscreen is ticked and "use DCS system resolution in mirror" is too. I've had to downgrade back to stable driver as I was having some problems in non VR games but I'm thinking about re-installing it. I noticed if I was getting around 55-65 fps without FMF then enabling it would smooth the experience for me and get rid of some of the stuttering I had here and there. After a heap of testing I found this was the best way to utilise it. AMD 7800X3D | AMD 7900XTX | 64GB RAM | 4x2TB M.2 NVME PCIE 4.0 | PICO 4 and Reverb G2 | TM WARTHOG HOTAS

I had smooth game play looking around and flying WWII warbird . i then disabled it and went into same server and this time i had stutters and the odd stutter looking around . My steam-VR graph showed Red lines at a constant rate . I then Re-enabled FMF and had smooth game play again . i would say this is working . Still testing but now i get game crashes when i exit . ?? Crash due to necksaver . Not AMD driver .
