The group that I´m part of just hosted Korea themed mission. We used A20s but they just don´t make the cut. A b-29 that isn´t locked by the asset pack would get a lot more ppl in the Forgotten war theatre and add substantially to the eco-system.

Please.

It's not a case of ED not wanting to please the users, most likely this is a cost issue: you need to not only create the 3-D model, animations,  damage model, liveries, and LUA scripts, which of course require manpower and time, but also you would need to contract a license with Boeing for the rights to use their B-29 on DCS, which I assume is not something cheap. To top it off, you would have an increased maintenance workload, because believe it or not, all assets of DCS require updating from time to time, just to keep them working whenever some aspects of core-DCS are updated.

 

I'd love ED if they could produce a B-29, but in the meantime I can either use a B-17 on its place (I know, not free, but I'm willing to invest $$ on my favorite Sim), or I can employ a user Mod instead, like this:

We might be getting the B-29, there is a Pacific assets pack in the work to go along with the F4U Corsair and we have a free WWII Marianas map in the works I'd love to know if any of the folks from ED can comment on the cost of the Pacific assets pack or what we will see?

Magnitude 3 Pacific Assets pack has free with the F4U.

You might be wrong on this, becuse

I don't know what assets are coming to DCS in the Pacific Asset pack but the B-29 would be a candidate

Magnitude 3 has none confirmed a B-29 AI... what making ED about the WW2 assets pack has unkonow.

I'm sorry, but this is just gibberish. Nowhere did @upyr1 claim it. He just stated it was a good candidate to be included, which makes perfect sense.

I'm sorry again, you really should consider using a translator for both reading and writing.

None of your business and W A Y  O F F topic, unlike his post. He was just clarifying that he didn’t mean to say the 29 was coming with the asset pack.

Yes the 29 would be worth it as an Ai asset. It was heavily used over Korea and would have been used on both sides if an early Cold War would have went hot. IIRC there is talk of a Korean map and the B-29 would be almost necessary for a Korean war scenario. Honestly it would have been nice to have with the MiG-15. But its absence is felt. Not to mention it was copied down to the nut plates by the Soviets and massed produced.

I believe you have fooled around with this mod, so you can tell me what happens when you attack a combat box of B-29s, even when its on "passive defence".

That´s right, its a nicely made model but they don´t behave like b-29s.

Agree ... it used to work much better, but since the DCS changes to account for big formations it does not work well on that role.

Please re-read my quote again, and explain to me where I said that Magnitude was making the B-29

I clearly lead off by saying I don't know what assets we are getting but the B-29 might be possible as they were used in the Pacific. Unless you know what assets are coming in what asset pack I'm standing by my statement that I don't know and there a few ways we might get the B-29

I didn't say he said it was either, only that he said the Pacific Asset pack was going to be free, and I said that we might get the B-29 in it but I don't know for sure.
