RogueRunner Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 The mouse pointer gets 'lost' quite often for me. Seems like it 'times out' and disappear and when you want to use it again it's difficult to find it. Moving the mouse and hoping it passes in your fov is the only way but many times I am unable to find it again. Left clicking in most cases result in the treaded 'window not in focus' message. This is with a Quest 2. 'Cursor confined to game window' is enabled in the VR options screen but obviously does not work 1 With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.
Hiob Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) The mouse pointer disappearing after a couple of seconds is by design. I suppose it works the same in VR and 2D. I don't know if there's an option to make it permanent or change its size (I don't think so). But that would certainly be a nice new feature for the UI. Edit: Perhaps one of the .lua-wizards can find the line of code for the fade-out time? The confine to gme window obviously do not keep the mouse in the window so very frustrating. With the price of ammunition these days do not expect a warning shot.

Does that still apply? "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

This should then keep the cursor centred and always on. You can toggle it on and off with a plane specific keybind in the general tab. 2) Use Joytokey to bind a hotas button to recentre the mouse. If you bind the same button on your hotas for (1) and (2) then you can use both functions; i.e. use your head track as the main direction for the cursor and fine-tune with a mouse, or as I do with a large track pad. I hope this makes sense. 1 9800x3d; rtx5080 FE; 64Gb RAM 6000MHz; 2Tb NVME; Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).

I hope this makes sense. If you do #2, then you don't need to uncheck #1. I do similar - voiceattack joystick button to recenter mouse bound to the same button I use for the DCS bind for "show cursor". Then if I want to use something hard to reach with my head like the ejection seat behind me, or the A10 CDU then I just move the mouse and it takes over. Not sure if DCS ever patched this, but currently there's absolutely no problem having the best of both worlds as long as you re-center the mouse with a tool. 1 Pimax Crystal VR & Simpit User | Ryzen CPU & Nvidia RTX GPU | Some of my mods
Tom Kazansky Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 For VR I wish DCS would offer an option to center the mouse pointer every time the pointer is turned on from the off state. 3
Eldur Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 This is literally the biggest reason to just use VR controllers instead, much easier to aim at stuff with those anyways. But for those that still use the regular mouse, there should be some keybind that pops some highlight animation so you'll know where the "darn thing" is hiding again. Like that "show when Ctrl is pressed" thing in Windows mouse settings (the old, better CP), just prettier.

All of us that search the mouse pointer or don't even remember if we let it just disappear with time or turned it off by button don't remember it's position anyways. Otherwise there wouldn't be a problem to move it into sight. So why not simply let it emerge right in the center of the view whenever it is turned on again from either of the both off-states that are implemented? ED should test this and offer it as an option imho. edit: is there any use of the mouse pointer beeing able to be moved outside of the VR mask? Am I missing something? But this makes it a window that can not be maximized, and the cursor often ends up outside that window, causing "Mouse out of (smth)" warning. Even when "Confine cursor to window" is ticked. Can't you "alt+enter" it to make it fullscreen? I'm running SteamVR (WHEN I'm doing VR) and my mirror always seems maximized. I don't know much about this VR-stuff though and have not really a clue which setting influences this..... No. Alt+enter does not maximize the window. Also; full screen is checked. Just a tiny nuicance. This keeps the cursor from going to "window not in focus" for me and keeps it within DCS. I'm not using full window mirror on screen either.
