First of all,thank you for using the new su-27 model.And I'd like to tell you how to install it correctly.

 

There's two ways to install it:

1)you can double click "3GO-ModInstall.exe" after you unzipped the install pack and then follow the installation program.

 

2)there's a manual install guide in the README file page 3-5.When you can't install it via the installation program,manual install is always a safe way.

 

Yet we hadn't test the installation program in vista 64-bit edition,manual install is recommended in that environment.

 

There're some bug we found after the release,we felt very sorry about it,and we will try our best to help you.We promise we will fix them in the following edition.

 

The BUGs we fixed on 1.03 version:

1)Unable to rewrite Meinit.xml cause LOCK ON went wrong(FIXED)

2)Compatibility with TomcatZ's Parkbox-MOD(FIXED)

3)Frame disappear bug on the landing gear cover(FIXED)

 

 

Here is the BUG LIST

 

1)New SU-27 model CAN NOT work with "Tomcatz parkbox mod" So please make sure you didn't install that before you install the new SU-27.(FIXED in 1.03 version...)

 

2)If there's a C++ error after installed this model,you must install the latest C++ library to solve it.(Most Likely FIXEDin 1.03 version...)

3)If you can see any thing like this.(Most Likely FIXED in 1.03 version...)

(some country missing,some character missing,can not see any plane after opened the mission,an error appears after click the FLY button)

Which means your ME flie went wrong.

The way to fix it is edit the lockon\ME\Meinit.xml file,find these codes(which is wrong)

then it will be fine.

I've 1 question about the model:

In all other skins except "Russian Knights 595" and "Russian Knights 598" the model of Su-27 has IR sensor before the cockpit like this

But, when i select Russian Knights 595 or 598 skins, the IR sensor on the nose of Su-27 disappeared. Why ?

So, does Russia have another version of Su-27 without IRST for demonstration only ?

Yes, real "Test Pilot" (not Russian Knights) Su-27 #595 and #598 birds have no EOS!

 

There was no EOS in LOMAC/FC default Su-27 model for these two neither and that's absolutely correct!

LOL i remember asking the same question as you Majesco during the beta testing :D

 

It goes to show the levels of detail that 3GO are aiming for :thumbup:

Again, Russian Knights are fully functional Su-27P airframes with radar, weapon systems and EOS installed and working.

 

KnAAPO Test pilot Su-27 airframes #595 and #598 have none of it onboard!

OK my install went smooth, I just launched 3GO-ModInstall.exe and voila, it finished in less than 10 secs! Beautiful!

 

There's this Q and A part of the Flanker.pdf that says:

Q: Why there's a little gap between the flame and the engine when I active the afterbunner?

A: As the original SU-27 model is not exactly right with the engine part, so during we made the

new SU-27 model we must consider both the right size of the plane and the right position of the

cannon and the engines, which made this little gap. But you can install the new flame model

(created by some1) and new flame texture (created by Oxyd) to fix this problem. These two

patches had already packed in the installation file, all you need is to install them with MODMAN

after installed the new SU-27 model.

 

I haven't noticed any significant "little gaps" or whatsoever between engine and the flame! I must say that Afterburner looks great, it changes color thru stages from orange to blueish and I haven't installed some1's AB cone and oxyd's textures. IMHO there's no need as it looks nice straight after install!

 

I noticed no bugs with new 3D model of a Flanker except perhaps this one:

As you can see, Bort Nr 01has a small LOD issue, from some distance it looks like the one in pic above, I mean it's kinda blurry so I wonder did anyone else notice this issue and what can be done to overcome it!

Don't pack the side number texture into the CDDS. This TGA file need install to the Bazar/temptextures folder.

Yes, but hitting 3GO-Modinstall.exe does this automatically! I believe 3GO-su-27-tga.cdds contains nomera and as U can see it's already compressed to CDDS!

 

I can try unpacking this .cdds with MoDMan CDDS Explorer and placing the result into /Bazar/TempTextures!

Would this be correct?!

I have found a little bug/mistake in the texture. Please, look at the screen...

You can't call this a bug or a mistake because if you compare it to a RL Flanker pic, or this one Start screen you'll notice same black area between rudder surface and vertical fin:

So 3GO and all texture artists leave this detail as it is 'cause it's perfect!

I must mention the fact that I usually fly MiG-29 so I haven't flown Su-27 in LOFC too much so far, I tried it couple of times with my external views disabled and today I noticed a strange behaviour of Flanker's flaps during high alpha flight! I know that during Hi Alpha only leading edge slats move on MiG but here with Flanker flaps also extend in those conditions. I'm no Flanker expert, more of a layman here so I can't say if this is true IRL too. I need some explanations on this flaps behaviour!

It's correctly animated, I just watched some RL Su-27 videos and Flaps indeed move like in the case of 3GO Flanker model, default ED model was correct too, I just checked it in another Lock On folder that has no 3GO model installed. I use two different Lock On folders for testing animation and FPS differencies between ED's Su-27 and 3GO's one!

 

It's time to edit my previous post as I run into answer!!

 

3GO's Flanker gives better FPS (benchmarked with Fraps), believe it or not :thumbup:

 

This is the greatest 3D mod for LOFC! More time I spend with it, more perfect it seems!

Then you would have all the files uncompressed and it would hurt performance. I tried removing the entry in graphics.cfg...

 

common = ".\\Bazar\\World\\3GO-su27-tga.cdds";

 

as this is the cdds file that contains nomera.tga, and placed a high res nomera.tga file into /Bazar/TempTextures, but it didn't work. The numbers didn't show up at all and instead were blank.

 

Any other ideas to do this manually?

to 3GO Team: Do you guys have other option (clear front canopy texture like Su-27SM) for the current yellow colored front canopy ?

 

/ OT: which plane model would be the next project for Lock On: Su-33 or Su-25A ?

because i'm still waiting for a new Su-25A Frogfoot :D

Next will be a SU-27P which its pylons can be discarded,we think it will be useful for aerobatic players.

 

Next next....I don't konw,SU-33?We are not sure.

My game was running fine and everything before i installed the mod. After I installed, anytime i try to get on a big mission like a multiplayer map like the 169th or one of mine, the game either crashes at the end or i get the BSOD with a nv4_disp.dll error. I isolated that it was this mod causing the problem as i uninstalled it and everything returned to normal again. Do you guys know what might be causing this?
