ntonis Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I have to agree with the comments about just another A-10. This series started off with a helicopter and I would like to see it go in that same direction. I'm more pumped about getting the two seat AH-64a apache than just another A-10. I bought this game because I am fascinated with helicopters. I can't wait to try out the two seat multiplayer apache. It will be nice to concentrate on flying the chopper and leave the targeting and weapons deployment to the gunner. That is part of the excitement, working as a team. Then it would be nice to see the Hind. I think DCS is going in the wrong direction by implementing the A-10 and the fighters. I think they should concentrate on providing the multiplayers a stand off weapon to the Black shark before implementing the A-10 and the fighters. How are these multiplayers maps supposed to work when you have an A-10 and a Blackshark. What happens when we get the AH-64a. Now it will be A-10 and AH-64 versus Ka-50? That is hardly evenly matched. Who will want to fly the Ka-50 on multiplayer just so they can get owned. I'm sorry DCS but you guys are completely going in the wrong direction. :music_whistling: i agree men:thumbup::thumbup: more choopers!!!! Frakin Toasters Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) I have a feeling DCS are hoping that a lot of A-10 fanatics will probably snap up an A-10 module. Let's be fair, the aircraft is a very American weapon, and anyone who is an American patriot (most of them) will be hardcore up for jumping in a slow, deadly killing-machine such as that, to pop some infidel armour, or whatever the target will be. That's just how i see the aircraft, i could be wrong. I know a quite a few Americans ans they follow the archetype that would go for such a module for such reason. The AH-64 is more of an icon really. It is also quite popular, but for different reasons i think. One thing is for sure though, i will more than likely buy any mudule for any aircraft they release that is of the depth and standard of the Ka-50. And as the technology and engine evoles and becomes better, which i have to assume it will; the more they do, the better they'll get. I imagine the devs will also become better at what they do, making better models, cockpits, systems. And bug-eliminating. These are exciting times for Aircraft sim enthusiasts. Edit: By the way, have they confirmed that the Apache will be multiplayer? I absolutely love playing Battlefield 2142 and the Project Reality mod for BF2 for the high level of enjoyment i get from flying pilot and gunner with some of my online friends. It's such fun having a solid team of pilot and co-pilot in the one bird. Edited March 29, 2009 by Frakin' Toasters
nemises Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 ^^ they have confirmed that it is their goal , but I dont know if they will ever 100% confirm untill just before release.
Chibawang Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Yes, that's pretty accurate about patriotic Americans and the A-10, but why do you say it like it's a bad thing? There's just no other fixed wing ground pounder quite like it: simple, rugged, efficient and tough as hell. It reminds me a bit of russian tech in that regard. Not to mention that big, beautiful cannon and it's mighty roar that strikes fear into anyone within miles. It's just an amazing aircraft, and I would argue that it is every bit of an icon as the Apache if not more so. I don't understand what these other, more interesting reasons are you think the Apache is famous for? It's a kick ass death machine that operates low to the ground and targets armor, same as the A-10. They're really counterparts: The Apache is the A-10's equivalent in heli form. So I really like how they're going about this, and I can't wait to fly them both. What I really want to know is what's after that! :) Let's be fair' date=' the aircraft is a very American weapon, and anyone who is an American patriot (most of them) will be hardcore up for jumping in a slow, deadly killing-machine such as that, to pop some infidel armour[/quote']

Jigsaw Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I love the A-10 ever since that simulation A-10 Tank Killer that I had back in the Amiga days. I'd love to take it into the air in full detail, Black Shark style. Maybe the AH-64 needs more time. I can imagine that it's not easy to create the AI for the weapons officer, which I hope it will have! I also wonder if it will be possible to be just the weapons officer and have the AI fly the mission in single player.

They are interchangeable. That is, anyone qualified to be a pilot in an Apache is qualified to sit in either seat. Of course, it's just semantics, as I see what you're getting at, you mean the "guy who shoots" and the "guy who flies". Which is typically correct, I'm just pointing out that they are both the same job.

deviletk Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 "Make sure to buy the modules even if they aren't your fav aircraft..." Agreed. Since they dont come every month it is affordable to most and will probably better secure the future of DCS for us. With almost a year between modules - you have lots of time to save for each module and support Eagle Dynamics. Alex Regards Alex "Snuffer" D. Jigsaw Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 "Make sure to buy the modules even if they aren't your fav aircraft..." Will do! Eagle Dynamics are basically the last bastion of military simulations. One size fits all sims like Operation Flashpoint 2 and ArmA 2 notwithstanding.
EtherealN Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 (edited) Hey cows have two stomachs' date=' man![/quote'] Well, to be honest, depending on how you count they have either one or four. Not two. Most correct is to say that they have one stomach with four compartments - the reticulum, rumen, omasum and abomasum, the last being in function closest to what we'd normally call a "stomach". I know, I love being a smartass. :) Edited March 29, 2009 by EtherealN [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
