How to get rid of 1 Wire?

Hello all,

I‘m quite new to the Cat and enjoy it quite a lot.

One thing that bothers me a bit is that I always end up with a 1 wire, despite being perfectly on ball, on speed/AoA and after an overall decently flown pattern.

DLC is on and assists flawlessly. 

I‘ve tried joystick curves of +10 for pitch & roll and 0 for both as well, which doesnt seem to make a difference when it comes to my trap-performance.

I‘ve watched Maverick‘s Video on YT but can‘t manage to immitate his traps.

Any help and assistance is highly appreciated.

Do you have any video or a track to share?

What kind of grades re you getting?  Are any of them EGTL or EGIW?  You may be perfect onslope and on the ball but if you cut throttles at the ramp and drop the Tomcat, you will be too low at the very last second and catch a 1 wire.

You’re flying the ball properly, which is the problem. In real life the IFLOLS was set according to the aircraft flying the approach, because the hook to eye distance is different. DCS currently doesn’t account for this, and the IFLOLS is set for the Hornet and never changes. 
 

For the Tomcat, fly the ball higher than you normally would (about three balls higher I believe) and you’ll start catching the other wires.

Great hint, thank you very much indeed, I will try to take it into account for my next trap.

I‘m using the IFLOLS Overlay of the supercarrier, so where should I position the ball on the Overlay? About half way up or one third?

I'll tell you I fly the Tomcat the most and when using the overlay, if I leave the ball where it should be on the datums I almost always catch the 3 wire,and if not, other wires besides the 1.  I can't explain why that is if it's eternally set to the Hornet.  One of life's great mysteries I guess.

I like a ball to ball and a half high as well on the actual ball. I don’t use the overlay so can’t add any advice on that.

If you're flying a good ball all the way down you should be grabbing the 3 or 4-wire. I suspect there may be some burble at play here; it feels like it may have been adjusted (by who I don't know) because the ball will suddenly drop at the ramp or in the wires, usually leading to a 2-wire in my case. I didn't see this behavior prior to the Mudhen's release.
