SRS still excels in comparison for my needs. Especially as it allows for 3rd party access. Lack of options for LotATC users, OverlordBOT, STTS, and able to stream/push 3rd party audio / mp3 files into it externally, mean that the inbuilt functionality for me would be a huge step backwards. Depending on what ED do in the future things may change of course, but for now, I'm exclusively SRS because of the enhancements / additional functionality that it provides. Tzigy Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 Can not even test. I fly WW2, there seems to no one in chat when i look... And SRS is GREAT. 1 TM Warthog MFG TIR5 GT Omega Pro/ButKickerx1/WheelStandPro Playseat/ButKickerx2
Viper33 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 SRS is still far superior. Both from the use, options available like MIDS radios, modulation and background noise (type of jet and canopy position making a difference etc.). 1
Japo32 Posted December 1, 2023 Posted December 1, 2023 (edited) I would like to change to Voice but the poeple that I fly with, don't like to. Specially when someone still don't hear others, and all the walkarounds are done with same problem. I think the modulation fx, the distance noise and some other features are better in voice, but as said, many people won't change because if SRS do the job, why change? In my case I would like also because less programs running at the same time, and SRS still sometimes gives problems with human copilot. If ED or SRS would make an option to use both at the same time it would be great. Edited December 1, 2023 by Japo32

scommander2 Posted December 1, 2023 Author Posted December 1, 2023 Thanks for all replies and I guess that it will take time for us moving to DCS voice chat in the future. I'm not 100% sure it works as described, but it should take the canopy into account. It's not like Siribob develops those specific features out if thin air. Siribob saw it being developed for the DCS VOIP, and implemented the same feature in SRS. Edited December 2, 2023 by BarTzi
draconus Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 I had high hopes for the Voice Chat but the whole idea of creating virtual radios and additional buttons for it is a fail. Maybe I didn't understand something but I already have radios in my aircraft and PTT/MIC buttons assigned for it for comms. Why would I need another set? That's is an option to add virtual radios to the aircraft that don't have them. So for instance you can add same radioset that's in A-10 to a P-47. 2

I'd still have to use another key for transmission. Good enough that I don't have to create another virtual radio, thx. Vakarian Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 Yeah, that's a downer with the current implementation. Depending on the module, you might need two sets of binds, one for the VOIP, one for the comms menu. IIRC that's on most if not all ED modules, F-14 does have some special options to allow for short/long press operations of the mic switches 2
Mistermann Posted December 28, 2023 Posted December 28, 2023 Like others, I had high hopes for ED's voice chat. I am also in the "doesn't work for me" camp. I am the only person in my group that experiences any issues. Regardless of what I do, I cannot hear anyone over voice chat. I have a painful workaround that works, but isn't practical [outlined below for anyone interested] After 2 months patiently waiting for a fix, I convinced my group to move to SRS (we were using Skype ... hey, it worked ). I setup SRS on my client and my dedicated server and all I can say is WOW and THANK YOU @Ciribob! I am kicking myself for dealing with the workaround for as long as I did. Trying to hear voices and cockpit sounds from my desktop speakers while wearing a VR headset with built in sound was a nightmare. Not to mention how disturbing it was to the rest of the house hearing RWR beeps and the colorful language at high volume. Do I expect ED to eventually fix this? Absolutely. However, like all things with ED, its all about time. Personally, I don't expect them to fix this anytime soon. I suspect my issue is some sort of edge case and likely years from resolution. Hope I am wrong. However, until that date comes, I am thrilled that Cirbob created SRS! 3 System Specs: Spoiler Callsign:Kandy Processor:13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K - RAM: 64GB - Video Card: NVIDIA RTX 4090 - Display: Pimax 8kx VR Headset - Accessories: VKB Gunfighter III MCG Ultimate, VKB STECS Standard, Thrustmaster TPR Pedals, Simshaker JetPad, Predator HOTAS Mounts, 3D Printed Flight Button Box Video Capture Software: Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), Video Editing Software: PowerDirector 365 Into The Jungle Apache Campaign - Griffins Kiowa Campaign - Assassins Thrustmaster TWCS Mod
