The plan is 9 months after retail versions are released. And it is going to be the A-10C ;)

So if the official retail was released in November, that would be another 4-5 months for the A-10C, correct? Or does that mean the retail version distributed via DVD?

i find it rude & cheeky to see these polls for what the public wants.Clearly Ed will provide what they believe the public wants and what there capable of delivering on in a timely manner. just let ed do it please. we all know the A-10 is next . just leave it at that FGS !

I find the poll informative an interesting point of debate and in no way rude to the developers, after all surely its through discussions and polls on a forum we all develop and gleam useful information. Now if I advertise my .com site that maybe a different matter:shifty:

How is posting your opinion on the direction of a software module cheeky and rude? It is the farthest thing from it. Developers can learn from it and make their own judgement from it. If anything, this poll lets the developer know what people are thinking, and can provide the right direction for them. The developer doesn't want to release a product if it is not going to sell. They want to release a product that will sell. The only way they can get an idea about whether it will sell are by polls such as these. Now they know that there are alot of people out there that want to see the A-10, if they did not know that before. They also know now that there are alot of people that want to see the apache. I think this thread has recieved alot of popularity because people want to voice their opinions on the product that they are going to buy in the future. And I'm sure ED wants to continue to provide the astounding quality in this series. :D

You are technically correct, but to ED, "retail" really means the Western release in stores. We are still not all the way there.

So, correct me if Im wrong, but if it takes between 4-5 months to release a product to the west + 9 months for development of said module, wouldnt that throw off the timing of each modules by 4-5 months at least?

Heres the time line I am seeing:

Nov-08 BS Web released

April-09 BS Retail released

Jan-10 DCS A-10C released

June-10 DCS A-10C Retail released

Mar-11 DCS-AH-64A web release

Aug-11 DCS AH-64A retail release

etc...

Im just wondering if I am reading this right. If I am reading it right, then its not 9 months in between modules, but 14 months at least.

Patience is a virtue I've well learned...but ouch if it's something along those lines!

I just hope they release community tools so we can increase development speed!

I'm not speaking on behalf of ED but I believe its only an estimate they plan to release a new module every 9 month. And for the record, the 9 month hasn't started yet for the A-10C since the CD version for Black Shark hasn't hit the western market yet.

This is the info Im looking for...if it takes 9 months to develop and release, and 5 months for it to hit the western market via DVD after being rated by the ESRB, and THEN start work on the next module, then it isnt 9 months in between modules. Im just looking for clarification on that.

Assume roughly 9 months after full outright DVD release of the product. That could change obviously given unplanned setbacks, bugs etc.

Wags said specifically they'll start releasing info on the A-10 module in the summer and Glowing A has already teased us with the potential of a teaser video before that. I think it would be safe to assume Q1 or Q2 2010.

yea like element said, nothing is set in stone. You never know what could happen in a software industry (i.e unplanned setbacks, bugs). If you fix something it might break something else or if one of your guys gets sick and the project is delayed. Lots of variables so the 9 months is just a general estimate. Believe me, nothing would make ED happier to get their products out the door and into the market. But they have to make us happy with well-polished products so patience is a virtue in this case.

Yeah I understand that 9 months isnt exactly set in stone for software, but judging from what has been said, 9 months shouldnt technically be a realistic date between modules but 14-15 months.

When DCS officially asks for my input then I will give it. Until then, I think this SIM stands up on its own. They already have the "right direction", and they don't need a bunch of yahoos telling them where they need to go next. This product does SELL: DCS never started a POLL asking you whether or not you wanted a Ka-50, did they? Don't worry about what you think they need to know for them to continue their SUCCESS--they are doing just fine; we don't need to clutter up their table with unnecessary POLLS and WISH lists. Let the artist paint on his canvass in peace and quiet; let companies like Wal-mart worry about sales stats and having the RIGHT product on the shelf :blow:

I don't think anyone official ever said it would be nine months in between modules, only that they hoped to have the next module out nine months after Black Shark's retail release. I could be wrong, but that's how I remember it.

^^^^ That is how it was. The stated intent was to have modules released 9 months apart - ie. from retail to retail.

It was by no means a promise; we all know things can get in the way.

From retail to retail? so can we expect to have A-10 as download versión before 9 months? (because Ka-50 download came some moths before than retail, and every retail had it's own timming)

Or you meant from retail to download? XD

I'm getting confused dudes XD Why don't you just say temptative timmings for russian and english download versions at least?

I don't know myself, but I doubt that the release timing of A-10 is yet determined, which is what I was trying to say. The release timing of Black Shark was Black Shark. The release timing of Warthog will be Warthog. It may or may not be similar to Black Shark, but I don't think it's specifically planned to be so.

For your information, I don't need EDs permission to start a poll. This forum is for members who wish to learn something or express their opinion. If you don't like this thread, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Not nit picking, but it's ED's forum, so you probably do - at least by ommission :-)

So what are you saying, that we need your permission to start these polls? What is the point of a forum then if people are not allowed to voice their opinions. I simply asked what people prefered, the A-10 or the AH-64a and now I need permission to start a poll? I have seen a number of polls and threads come up and never have I seen permission required. I'm sure that if ED finds whatever thread is offensive or disruptive, they will just remove the thread. But I don't think any one has ever asked permission to start a thread or poll.

So, what next for DCS?

James Bond's Aston.. (phwoar)

Or...

The Starship Enterprise..

As much as everyone wants both of these, <sarcasm>I suspect we may just get an A10c next</sarcasm>.... If I'm lucky I might just understand the KA-50 by the time the A10 is out. I say less polls, more playing BS.
