AngryViper.101 Posted January 14, 2024 Posted January 14, 2024 I could see multiplayer servers earlier today, but since around 5 hours ago none appear? I tried to restart my PC also made sure I am logged on and the when looking for multiplayer servers none appear? i7-11800H @ 2.30GH | 16Gb 3200MHz | GeForce RTX 3060 | Samsung 1TB SSD | KINGSTON 520GB SSD
AngryViper.101 Posted January 14, 2024 Author Posted January 14, 2024 Thanks just tried that but for some reason same result ;-( i7-11800H @ 2.30GH | 16Gb 3200MHz | GeForce RTX 3060 | Samsung 1TB SSD | KINGSTON 520GB SSD
AngryViper.101 Posted January 14, 2024 Author Posted January 14, 2024 I tried turning on my VPN and now it is working. Not sure if without VPN was the actual problem, but I used to play DCS mostly with my VPN turned on in the past ... interesting. i7-11800H @ 2.30GH | 16Gb 3200MHz | GeForce RTX 3060 | Samsung 1TB SSD | KINGSTON 520GB SSD

AngryViper.101 Posted January 18, 2024 Author Posted January 18, 2024 Hi I am unmarking this solution, because I want to know if anyone else can possibly help me diagnose the problem on my PC? If I use a VPN I can authorise, log in, and view a listing of servers (multiplayer). However, if I do not make use of a VPN then I can also authorise, log in, even download modules I purchased etc. However, the multiplayer servers listing remains empty, even when trying to refresh. Any idea where I can start to troubleshoot this behaviour? I use McAfee AV i7-11800H @ 2.30GH | 16Gb 3200MHz | GeForce RTX 3060 | Samsung 1TB SSD | KINGSTON 520GB SSD
AngryViper.101 Posted January 18, 2024 Author Posted January 18, 2024 (edited) okay, I managed to narrow it down. when i disable windows defender multiplayer servers are listed almost instantly, turning windows defender back on and nothing. can someone share with me the inbound and outbound rules that i must put in place for windows defender firewall to allow dcs to list multiplayer servers? Flappie Posted January 18, 2024 Posted January 18, 2024 (edited) Windows Defender usually lets DCS servers through. You can start by adding the DCS root folder as an exception to Windows Defender. Edited January 18, 2024 by Flappie ---

I use McAfee AV hello. being that it works on VPN, i would bet you have rules for the VPN network that are not in your regular network rules. run powershell as admin and run this command (create a c:\temp folder first. Get-NetFirewallProfile -Name Public | Get-NetFirewallRule | export-csv c:\temp\firewallrules.csv go find the file and open it. i snipped mine and have attached it.dcs-FW.csv AKA_SilverDevil Join AKA Wardogs Email Address My YouTube “The MIGS came up, the MIGS were aggressive, we tangled, they lost.” - Robin Olds - An American fighter pilot. AngryViper.101 Posted January 18, 2024 Author Posted January 18, 2024 (edited) nope, have those 4 x dcs items in inbound rules but still no luck here and i am logged in? AngryViper.101 Posted January 18, 2024 Author Posted January 18, 2024 ok after a reboot it seems to be working now without vpn even with windows defender firewall on and mcafee advanced firewall on. i did have to refresh around 5 times and wait for the listing of servers to appear. did 2 things 1. moved my dcs folder from a strange d:\save games\ which shows up as d:\dcs to d:\program files\eagle dynamics\dcs world openbeta\ folder ... 2. starting the dcs_updater.exe not really sure what i did to fix it, will monitor for a number of days and feedback... i7-11800H @ 2.30GH | 16Gb 3200MHz | GeForce RTX 3060 | Samsung 1TB SSD | KINGSTON 520GB SSD

MAXsenna Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 Hi McAfee was the cheapest program (I know of) that includes a VPN .. not the best but works wellAh, I see. Is it possible to use only the VPN part perhaps? Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk
rob10 Posted January 19, 2024 Posted January 19, 2024 The fact that it works with VPN and not without makes me suspicious that McAfee is at fault somewhere in this problem Did you try making sure that the McAfee firewall also has exceptions for DCS?
AngryViper.101 Posted January 20, 2024 Author Posted January 20, 2024 Hi I 'think' I have solved the problem. 1. Patience 2. I have two drives C:\ and D:\ - a while back I created a link folder so that my C:\users\username\Saved Games\ folder 'points' to D:\Saved Games - then recently I re-installed DCS and for some reason D:\DCS\... was used and it installed into D:\Saved Games ... - So - my theory, is that the inbound rules in my firewall - even though allowing D:\DCS\......exe etc. was not working due to the conflict .. ---- I moved the game folder from C:\Saved Games\ to C:\Program Files\ and now it works as expected .... 2 i7-11800H @ 2.30GH | 16Gb 3200MHz | GeForce RTX 3060 | Samsung 1TB SSD | KINGSTON 520GB SSD
