CougarFFW04 Posted February 1, 2024 Posted February 1, 2024 (edited) I everyone, All is in the title : I am wodering if in case of a Case III recovery, the marshal pattern has a maximum length. For exemple if I have a 6 minutes delay for the EAT I can fly a 2'(turn) + 1' cold + 2'(turn) + 1' (hot) pattern. But if the delay is longer let's immagine 12 minutes can I extend the hot and cold segments to 4' (2+4+2+4) or should I fly 2 times the pattern with shorter segments like 2x(2+1+2+1) ? Thanks Edited February 1, 2024 by CougarFFW04
Solution speed-of-heat Posted February 1, 2024 Solution Posted February 1, 2024 Providing you hit your commence time it doesn't matter afaik... Foka Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 I'd say that hard limit is 50 nm - as CATCC area. But IMO it's better to make more short circles, than extend one. My technique is 2 min/10 nm leg.
maxTRX Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 ... and there's always CV2 they can throw at you :)
Nealius Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 (edited) From what I gather listening to podcasts, the pattern lengths and pattern speeds do not matter as long as the two following are observed: 1. Meeting commence time within acceptable limits (+/-10 seconds IIRC?) 2. Not endangering yourself and/or others I recall a story from "Puck" about flying the F-14D in the CASE III stack, and plugging in burners to get 550KGS to hit commence on time.
