It is more important to ED to sell new stuff then it is to fix current problems.  My suggestion is to have everyone buy the new map and then maybe they can afford to hire someone to fix this issue. LOL.  Obviously  they have spent all their time and effort and money and energy lately to make some slick hype videos.  I counted all my DLC (downloads from Steam), got 34 of them, I would think we all have spent enough on this game to get some results, instead of "it is coming".  Sad thing is we cannot do anything.  Yes we all talk big, but once they got our money we lost all control.  We can't go on strike, or boycott the game, or anything like that.  This is the single largest issue I have seen with this game since I purchased it 2 years ago.  I do hope that DCS/ED is not on the verge of total collapse but so many signs indicate such possible outcome.  Can only wait and see.

I'm sorry you feel you have been wronged, but I have mentioned in previous post that the fix has been found and we are waiting for the DCS patch which will hopefully be soon.

We were not able to create a hotfix in this case as we are locked into a testing cycle for the next release of DCS and all of its modules. Again sorry for the inconvenience because of this crash created by meta v63 update but it came at an unfortunate time in our update cycle.

thanks

I’m just coming back to this discussion after being away for a while. I’ve loaded up DCS everyday to see if a patch has been provided yet. Unfortunately no luck. I’m a little disappointed honestly that a huge number of people can’t play DCS the way they want to. However, ED knows there is absolutely no competition in the military sim space. What are we going to do? Go dogfight in MSFS 2020? Try to learn complex systems in WarThunder? It’s not going to happen. Hopefully one day there will be competition in this space, so that our hard earned dollars are not taken advantage of.

I know that is not ED's fault and the best you can do is apologize but please, provide a date!

One week from today? Two weeks? One month?

Not giving a date feels like a lack of commitment even tho I'm pretty sure QA guys/gals are doing their best.

Two comments above your comment is the solution that has worked for many, including me on W11.

Winner!  Thank you - that did indeed work a treat.

The current situation is not meta's fault. This issue, once discovered during v63 beta, was always going to be resolved by ED.

How do you download these files? I click “download”, it says “zipping files” and nothing happens. I don’t get any options where to download it or where it went

Takes a couple of mins then your browser should download.

Check your downloads folder

I don't usually complain, but I spent about many hours trying to fix this, I rolled back updates to windows and firmware, even restored windows to an earlier time thinking there was a driver issue which ended up breaking other non-MS software, just to try and fix this issue which you guys seemed to already know about but not communicate to the community.  You have everyones emails, why not send out an email saying that there is an issue with a Meta update and DCS so people like me don't waste countless hours thinking the issue is individually ours to fix.

If Oculus compatibility is not part of the testing process, since you don't mind it being broken during this period, why not issue a hotfix?

It is part of the testing process and they were informed as soon as the PTC version (public test channel/beta) of the Oculus Link app was released which caused the incompatibility. For whatever internal reasons they have, commercial, resources, etc., ED is unable to provide a hotfix. The next DCS release appears to be pretty soon as ED is just waiting for the nod from QA to release it.

Blocking via the firewall! Good idea. Wish I thought of that. I unsuccessfully tried renaming the folders as described many pages ago... And it still updated, just happened yesterday.

Personally I will have to wait now. I have other things on the PC that need my time, but wish I had seen this last week.

Sorry friend!  I'm hoping for everyone there is a patch soon.  I'm feeling very lucky to still have access to VR.  Going back to flatscreen just isn't the same now.

QPro user here, Dev mode enabled, v62 reported by the headset. DCS crashed upon start.

What version is your PC app?

9800x3d; rtx5080 FE; 64Gb RAM 6000MHz; 2Tb NVME; Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).

What would happen if there was a bug that stopped ALL dcs users from starting the game instead of just quest users? I'm guessing there would be a patch put out as soon as possible and not waiting for the usual patch cycle

For me only going to SteamVR solved the problem, though the F1 pilot view now looks like the attached screenshot now. I can look around but I cannot get into the place of the pilot. Do you know  solution for this? Also, on the loading screen things flicker so severe that even a healthy person can easily get an epileptic attack. Apart from that the performance is yet somewhat underwhelming for a 7900XTX with around 36-56FPS though this does stay very stable so it still is an improvement over my old RTX2060.

Also, it's not helpful, unless it's hurting your eyeballs, in which case stop reading this thread rather than telling an admin to close it because you're tired of seeing "confusion."
Also, if you go back to page 16 someone has a temporary fix that works with oculus link as well as another work around through steamVR that also works.
I guess you must have missed that, because rather than complaining to everyone, you should be directing people to that post so that it would actually get them up and running even if only temporarily until the patch is fixed.
Instead of complaining about everyone and what they are saying, you would be more helpful in trying to help find a fix for people so they can keep playing.

Lol. If you care to check, I raised this issue more than a month before you did. Take a look at the 7th post in this thread and check the date. So you can probably guess that I have been following this with utmost interest and know of all the workarounds, three of which I provided. My point is that there is no need to keep searching for solutions, posting misinformation etc etc. It's not helping people who come here for help to wade through all the quagmire of bluff and bluster. Plenty of workarounds exist already. ED have fixed it, it's now just a matter of waiting for the testing of the full release to be completed before it's issued to all of us - which I expect will be days not weeks away.

Hey all. So I am one that has been unable to fly in the past few weeks as well and stumbled across something that got me in the air again. Open SteamVR, and once you are in your room there, open DCS. Not my preferred way to play as I cant choose how the game opens (Multi Threading) and I get a slight delay in my sounds for some reason, but it gets me back flying until the fix goes live.

I am playing on Windows 11, Oculus Quest 2 V63, Steam Version

Yes, this is an identified work around. You are playing through SteamVR instead of Oculus VR. I know for me at least, the drop in performance makes it a no go.

I don’t love 2d mode but I’ll play pancake until - hopefully for the love of god- Tuesday when the patch comes out (can’t see it coming out on the weekend or Monday). Gives me a chance to enjoy the better graphics AND the ability to actually spot and identify enemy ground units in my Hind for once!

I work for a software company. We rate bugs in a specific order. No work around, and a major functional area being unusable. Affecting a percentage of users - is a P1 (Priority 1). We hotfix. Pull latest release branch. Fix bug and release the hot fix (current release + the fix)

why can’t ED have done that? They say they have a fix. Patch it into the latest release.

Re-centering your VR view does not solve this?

That does solve that problem indeed. Now I need to find a way to get my HUD to work again and the game is still quite stuttery. The graphics are quite stunning though.

Well, this is much better then a game that doesn't even start. I also noticed that my CPU and GPU are not even running at half power while reaching above 60FPS high in the air already. I noticed that during the stutters the game does continue in sinlge player, that never happened with my old RTX2060. Could a WiFi 5 connection be causing this problem?

Does anybody else with a Quest3, the v63 version and running the DCS through Virtual Desktop with experience a very noticeable decrease in image quality?

I can start and run DCS just fine (through VD), but compared to "a few weeks back" when I last played, I notice that the textures now look mushy and blurred, almost low-res? This is on my RTX4090 with most things set to High (both Textures for sure). A few weeks back all of this was pretty crisp and fast (~70FPS) and "Wow!" in my headset.

Now it is still fast (same FPS) but just looks ugly. The cockpit textures are smudgy, faraway mountains are a washed out blurry blob and the overall feeling is very "Meh". Something broke and since I didn't change anything - expect probably the automatic update to v63 - I'm wondering if this might be the cause?

thanks!

I solved this by resetting my PC prior to update and turning the updates off. A fix also works if you install the new version of OCULUS and then copy the old files over top. I did this with a friends PC since they were auto updated and it broke DCS.

I would wait until the next patch before buying stuff which probably will not solve the problem.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
