As title. From the Steam beta options I chose none and then updated. Only one problem during update as Steam advised the download was corrupt. Deleted Steam download files, updated again and everything went fine. Verified files to make sure. A new folder in Save Games was created called DCS. Now when I run DCS it is still using the Saved Games DCS.openbeta folder. Tested by adding the A-4 mod to see if it loaded up from that folder which it does.

Any idea how I get DCS to use the new folder? Is there a config file in the Steam install files that points to the saved games folder that can be amended?

Log attached and screenshot showing Steam beta state as none.

That's how the DCS udpater used to work: you were free to switch from Stable to OB, and from OB to Stable, and you would keep your custom settings.

As long as the dcs_variant.txt file is found, DCS is told to used the specified folder.

I say "used to" because the OB is now over, but note that you can still name your Saved Games/DCS folder whatever you like (DCS.banana, for instance) using the dcs_variant.txt file.

Understood although I would assume that Steam created this variant file when I swapped to the beta. Should Steam or perhaps DCS itself have given the option to delete/change/keep this file when I swapped back? I realise that it will become a moot point shortly in the future but it did cause me some confusion.

I'm not sure that the dcs_variant.txt file gets created automatically. To my knowledge, you have to create it for it to exist. Maybe you did, a long time ago?
Nope! When you install OB it gets created, while never removed.
Cheers!
