An F-18 pilot body with the rolled up sleeves would be nice. It’s the least ED could do for the Naval Aviation simmers that were neglected on the Afghanistan map. I mean, SC updates as well, but enough people are already complaining about that.

I won’t label this latest snub opprobrious in nature, but it sure would be nice if ED showed the Naval Aviation community some love. Any amount of love. Like, I’m down to rolled up sleeves.

Wait.. We have the Supercarrier module (with deck crew, ATC, soon a ready room), pilot bodies in both the Hornet and the Tomcat, yet meanwhile:

  • The F-16 has been a drone (empty cockpit) since its release years ago, same for the A-10C II
  • Land based ATC is absolutely horrible
  • No ground crews

Yet you ask for "any amount of love" for naval ops?

I'm definitely not against your wish mate, but I personally I'd say land based ops needs love first, before we even start thinking about rolled up sleeves for the Hornet pilot 😅

I hear you. I know there are issues elsewhere. But, you guys just got all of Afghanistan. I don’t own Sinai or SA, but if I did, I’d gladly trade those in (and NTTR), for Afghanistan to include any body of water. You know what? I’ll include PG as well, since it doesn’t include Afghanistan or Iraq.

And the official models? I only fly Navy. I’ve got two official planes (F/A-18, F-14). T-45 and A-4 on the mod side. But that’s it. If you fly Navy and AF, or strictly land, you have a massive library available to you. The F1 and the F-15E are the latest models. The upcoming F-4 will be the AF version (who knows how long it’ll take to make the Navy version). I don’t know when HB is going to start the A-6. I’m not one to complain, but I thought Afghanistan was going to be for everyone.

Not just those who like taking off from an airport. I don’t remember the last time I took off using a runway.

Edit: Also, this suggestion was more or less sardonic. So, I don’t want you or anyone to think I’m super serious about rolled up sleeves. Just a bit flustered about having to wait, yet again, for something new. I mean, ED updated the F-18 pilot body (rudely took away our kneeboard in the process), and gave us the animated salute. Like, of all the animations, the “kiss off” would’ve have been the most useful.

Fun fact: all Navy jets can land on ground airfields.

Whoa… really? Thanks for letting me know. Just wish it was a little relevant for someone who doesn’t like operating from airports. Which is my point…….

I’m not getting anything new with Afghanistan. So, I guess Kola is the next map I have to look forward to.

C'mon man, really? 😅

You've got to admit, the SC module took naval ops (which I too like very much btw), way beyond land based ops, when it comes down to realistic procedures and details.

Again, I love naval ops too, but I'd be royally pissed when the Hornet pilot body gets additional rolled up sleeves first, while my Viper is still standing in its hanger since it's release (pre-purchased) because it still doesn't have a pilot body at all after years (which makes the cockpit look spaciously arcady as hell)..

Oh and btw:

Do yourself a favor and purchase SA and Sinai maps (during a sale). They're both beautiful and you'll love it 👍

Seriously? This matters?  You fly around looking at your sleeves? Most people have the pilot body turned off anyways.

Ok, this thread is starting to derail. Sorry for that @YhandisH. It's your wish, and rightfully so 😉👍

I come to that conclusion watching videos. You rarely ever see this enabled.
It’s a funny feature for a flight sim since it blocks some of the controls and you actually can’t see it unless you deliberately look down. In a racing sim you see the hands working the wheel and controls so it makes sense there. Plus it’s usually better done. Here it looks like a muppet or rag doll without a head. So it’s not hard to imagine this feature being unused by most people.

Flight suit wasn't just simple clothing it was also part of your safety kit with in built flash fire protection.  Sleeves rolled up was definitely non regulation.

No, you’re not wrong. I’m happy with SC right now (even if ED broke the deck crew with their silly October skeleton crew nonsense), but, I wish we did have something around the corner to look forward to. Everything right now feels distant (for the carrier based people).

Regarding Sinai and SA: That’s not my scene. I’m sure it’s beautiful and all, but I’m not interested in those regions.

Feel free to reread my edit until it makes sense. Don’t skim. Read all of it. And look up any definitions you might not understand.

You know what, I’ll help you out. My entire argument essentially boils down to: It sure would be nice to fly from a carrier all the way to Afghanistan. Don’t be fooled by the rolled up sleeves.

It’s a similar argument to “can we please have X airport? That’s where Y aircraft operated from.”

Ok so this was a snarky way to complain and ask for more content? Ok… 🙄 You know there’s a separate map request wishlist section where you could be more direct.

So you’re having a meltdown because they introduce one landlocked map? Ok… 🙄

Easy there.. let us talk you down from the edge. You know the SC is getting even more animated deck crew right? You will actually be able to fly from the carrier to anywhere with the upcoming Global Map.
Now slowly step away from the cliff…

Calm yourself….

I’m not the one who misinterpreted my original intent. One I thought was clear enough to begin with (I also went on to explain myself directly).

It’s not “snark.” There are several ways to make a point. In fact, you got half way to my point before you decided to call it quits. All I’ve done is inverted your original comment of “seriously? Do you fly around staring at your sleeves…” so that it read, “Seriously…rolled up sleeves would feel like a win at this point” (for players that strictly operate from boat).

Sometimes, simply stating “please let us have X,” isn’t enough to get attention. This got way more attention than I thought it would, so it served its purpose (to the extent that it could).

Furthermore, if you think this is a meltdown, you lead a sheltered life. Don’t exaggerate what’s happened here. At best, I made a point about giving carrier based players access to Afghanistan. Worst case scenario, I asked for rolled up sleeves. People having meltdowns aren’t making a point. Also, starting a thread is super easy. It’s not like I had to file a motion with some superior state court to get this going.

Im aware SC is getting more stuff. It’s been discussed before. Again, feel free to reread anything I’ve typed up here to understand where I’m coming from. Or don’t understand where I’m coming from. This isn’t that big a deal. I’m surprised anyone even commented on it to begin with.

Well since Afghanistan doesn’t have a coastline you’ll need to wait for the global map or use an airfield. Or use any of the many other maps in this game (only two lack a body of water). Not sure why this is a problem.

Your thread has nothing to do with its supposed topic.

And I followed those rules. I can't fly from the carrier to Afghanistan. So, please, ED, give me rolled-up sleeves.

I can request something while making a statement. There is nothing in the rules about that. The reasons behind what I want shouldn't matter.

And here's the beauty of it: You're not essential to any of this. In fact, you don't need to understand it. You're the one who's invested more in the outcome of these rolled-up sleeves than I am.

I've submitted something I want. ED will be able to handle it from there.

Thank you for letting me know things I already knew. I have three maps I enjoy using (Syria, PG, Marianas) and a fourth I never use (NTTR—I bought it because of a group thing).

Edit: Move on with your day, man. I know I have.

Not really 😆 you used an off topic snarky teaser to get people to read the thread. Which has nothing to do with a pilot body.

They already are handling it. You’ll be able to do what you want using the upcoming global map. I don’t know how you think they’d accommodate your request on a theater sized map of a landlocked country.
