Why not?

What Silver_Dragon said obviously overrides any other considerations currently, but if you ignored that factor, Caucuses is an OLD map.  The tech used for it would likely collapse and run at 5-6 FPS on super high end systems if you added a bunch more area.  I'm guessing you would likely need to completely remake Caucuses from scratch to allow it to expand massively without crashing performance levels.

Same as Siria and other places.

This is fiction, not real...

Actually, this is because Caucasus has been made using old map technology. ED stated that multiple times. They wanted to expand Georgia, and the old technology couldn't handle a map that big, so Crimea had to go.

Sure, now we have a new tech that can handle this, but that would require remaking the Caucasus region from scratch, just like it was done with Normandy. I have a feeling that's not gonna happen anytime soon. I think we can safely say the Ukraine war will be over before ED gets to doing that. There's a reason Normandy upgrade is paid content even if you already bought the old version.

I wish it would happen as well. I miss the Crimea map. The people who created that one clearly loved the area. So many of the sites around Sevastopol and the rest of that map were recreated with their distinctive structures, etc, unlike the cookie cutter buildings we have on the Caucasus map.

And, since this is a wish list, I wish it could be done again. Unfortunately, the chances of that are 0%.

The only hope we have is in the hand of the modders if that even possible. So let's forget about it and move on.

Modders has not access to TDK tools, only available to 3rd parties. they cant add nothing as runways, terrains and others, and the caucasus source has own by ED.

Whats ironic is tons of games and sims modeled Afghan and Iraq all through those wars while active. Why DCS is off limits to current wars/conflicts makes no sense. People still fly ops in DCS in areas that are currently engaged in wars regardless. War is war, and so is violence. People should not be engaged in developing or using software that models either if they have a problem with that.

Political correctness is lame.

DCS has historical aircraft. Many are still in use but in significantly upgraded versions that are state secrets.

I play this sim for historical re-enactment. I prefer not to do live action replays of recent events without understanding the wider context.

I would support development of Crimea for historical purposes, such as WW2, but not to recreate something that happened yesterday.

Some of you are other thinking this.

It simply isn't planned, we have other terrain projects in development.

Thank you

More terrains in development, please look this:

FS20 and DCS, many people don´t have more space, have a look to the link to solve.

I don't mean linking the maps, I mean that the trees and other assets that use the maps are installed only once.

So that it doesn't take up extra space, having the same trees and other assets installed on each and every map...

The Speedtrees and other assets has no a stuff with you have into the DCS core directories... Has part of the map, as the atrezo, building and more. The TDK compile the objects into the map structure, and no taking any outside of them.

Caucasus was re made from scratch 6 years ago with the new tech. You're thinking about the DCS A-10C caucasus map (Expanded east from Flaming Cliffs 2/Black Shark Caucasus map) that was featured on early DCS World.

The current one uses the new tech already.

The current one uses the "old" new tech (same as Nevada). The "new" new tech (same as Marianas) is what would be needed to expand the map to Crimea.

This is not the first overhaul of the terrain engine that DCS had seen.
