Pyroflash Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Very beautiful. きれい P.S. Any info on where I can go to find a schedule for the Blue Impulse? I always wanted to go see them. IMO one of the best, if not THE best aerobatic teams around. Edited September 19, 2012 by Pyroflash If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Pyroflash Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 :) I think we should buy a bunch of T-4's to replace our T-38C's. No idea why that aircraft isn't on the list for the competition. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
Sawamura Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 New photos of the Matsushima Airbase. These were taken on the 31th January. The construction to lift the ramp and the hangar 3 meters on a good way.
Nealius Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 I hope this thread never dies. You guys have been supplying me with many desktop backgrounds :) I'm actually in graduate school for TEFL and I'm trying to get over to Japan to teach Aviation English.
Sawamura Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 The KC-767 returns to Matsushima. Officials have confirmed, that the "Return of Blue"(Blue Impulse JASDF Air Demo Team returning to their Homebase in Matsushima) will be on this Sunday, 31th March.
Sawamura Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 (edited) Due to wheater conditions, the JASDF Blue Impulse went ahead of shedule and arrived at Matsushima at 1pm, Japan time, today. Edited March 30, 2013 by Sawamura 1

topol-m Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Yep. That's Kawasaki XP-1 (now P-1) launching maverick. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nealius Posted April 17, 2013 Posted April 17, 2013 Interesting. I never thought of a Maverick being an anti-submarine weapon. I wonder how it it's launched...visually, or through radar? I didn't even know the JASDF even had Maverick's in their inventory. I picked up an F-2 edition of "Military Aircraft of JASDF" when I was in Tokyo last year and the magazine doesn't mention it...if they have them in inventory I'm surprised if the F-2 can't use them, since it is supposed to be the JASDF's main support fighter.

It's obviously not an anti-submarine weapon :) I guess the idea behind these test firings is that it could be used to attack small ships. It is probably guided through the flir mounted under the nose. That's the only photo of a P-1 with a mounted flir (or a sensor that looks like it) that I've seen. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
