and if they had waited until the 28th it would be on the anniversary of the first flight

Are you going to wait to fly it to the 28th? Maybe have a ceremony with your friends and family?

"If there was ever an airplane designed by feuding committee members, it is the Phantom."

"With its butt-ugly lines, <profanity>-colored paint, yawning air intakes, and dangling armament racks, the Phantom is the consummate war machine."

I didn’t buy the Phantom. I just didn’t feel the need to learn another old jet. But Wow! That vid. DCS and its family of 3rd party creators have produced great promotional content over the years. (The very first Black Shark video comes to mind). Now, all of it gets relegated to the Cheech and Chong heap. THIS was Laurence of Arabia.

Buying now.

I was a bit like that too. I wasn't initially all that bothered, and even now i've finally ordered it I still don't even expect it to become my daily driver. I do however appreciate and like that they're trying to raise the bar and am happy to support that ambition.  And hopefully gains from this spill over into gains for other products (like I don't have masses of hours on the F-14 because I find working with Jester a bit clunky currently).

The f4 is the first I have not bought on pre order, for me performance is king for VR so will wait for opinions.

I really want this module but like you I'm worried that it will be like the F-14 or worse for performance.

I will continue to dither until 20th May at 23:59. Then I will panic, rush into action and buy it.

Any idea if we can still Purchase on Steam and play it on standalone client still?

You can transfer licenses you bought on steam to stand alone, but not vice versa.

Are you considering buying on steam at post launch discount, play for less than two hours to see if you like it, refund if not? Transfer to stand alone if you want to keep it?

You got my ideas flowing. 👍

I don't think it will work for me as I find steam VR does not work as well as standalone.

That will be awesome, to see this beauty in a proper simulator. But is there any chance you'll team up with IndiaFoxTecho again and bring this iconic plane to MSFS?

It's not worth it. The MSFS version of the F-14 only makes me want to go back to DCS and enjoy the original in its full glory. And for some reason high AoA destroys my fps, what the heck is going on?!?

That sim is so limited that only allows for mediocre simulations, which is a pity.

At least it wasn't too expensive.

MSFS seems to be glorified Google Earth to me. I try it every year or so but it just is not anything more than weird slew mode of satellite photos.

How many people are taking the 21st of May off work just to download the F4?

Not me! Taking off work for software releases is a fool’s errand.

Pro tip, wait a day or two before downloading too.
