G'day all,

I'm delving into a bit of mission making and would appreciate any feedback for those of you who have the F-16 and the Kola map. Working with pretty limited assets for what I want to accomplish, no mods and an EA Kola map.

Essentially the USSR has kicked it all off in a fictional 1994 and is pushing through Norway. You're part of the 480th stationed in Norway when it happens.

Looks great - I did a similar set for the Caucasus as a stand-in when the likelihood of a Kola map was but a distant dream...

I was going to wait until the map was a little closer to completion, particularly with the RNoAF bases and the winter textures, but it looks like you are doing a fine job, I might not need to at this rate. 👍

I'm pretty sure there's going to be a big update for Kola in June so that's just around the corner. Right now I'm just spawning units above the airfields that aren't finished, you can see where the airfields are supposed to be with the terrain at the moment.

Is it the "Northern Flank" series ? I liked it a lot.

Yes, and thank you.  Very simple missions compared to some but I tried to capture the atmosphere of that part of the world, however it was before the new clouds system, and obviously the terrain wasn't a great substitute for the Norwegian fjords.

I've still not had time to try out your missions, as I'm at the moment busy learning the Phantom, but wonder why don't you encompass these missions within a Campaign?  🙂

At the moment i've no real plan for the whole thing, I just make a mission, put it out and start working on the next one. Just kind of making it up as I go along. I agree it'd be easier or maybe make more sense to have it as part of a campaign, but also people can just play which ones they want to play in this format. If they're reading the briefings as they play them in sequence they'll understand what's going on.

I guess too that if this ended up being something like a 20 mission campaign then it would take a long long time to work on and finally release, and some people just seem to be enjoying playing it now. If there were some kind of mod/file repository like Steam Workshop where it could auto-update then I could just make it as a campaign and update it with missions as I go, but at the moment people would have to download a new campaign file every time I add a mission.

Probably won't be able to continue the series until some more airfields and towns/roads/bridges get added to Norway, especially Bardufoss, Tromso and Andoya.

If anyone has any suggestions or constructive criticisms that'd be great.

Well the new winter textures have changed a lot with the missions, i'll have to go through and see how they all play out and maybe put these first ten into a mission pack or mini campaign. shame there's no new airfields yet.

Has anyone played the F-16C versions of this campaign lately and can share their experience regarding triggers and frequencies and such?

There's a good chance some triggers don't work at all given the amount of updates. I need to run through them all at some point now that Kola has had some more Norwegian Airfields added. I'd consider them mostly all broken now.
