Tshark Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Is there a way to delete the stock F-4 kneeboards? I have my own refined kneeboards, but have to scroll through all the stock ones to get to them. I tried deleting the stock .jpg kneeboards (I left the .lua ones alone) in the directory of: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\F-4E\Cockpit\KNEEBOARD\pages Unfortunately, they seem to repopulate. I fly VR, so the kneeboards are an important issue. Thank you 9800X3D (5.21GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING Motherboard, G. GladiatorDPR Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Shark mind if I ask what kneeboards you're using instead??
Tshark Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 I use this one for Shrikes: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3338137/ I use this one for flight and weapons deployment: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3338026/ I also have two kneeboards I created for the button mapping on my Virpil throttle and Alpha grip. 9800X3D (5.21GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING Motherboard, G. BeforeBroadband Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 (edited) Just saw you deleted the stock kneeboards from their original location. Did you move them to the new one per Sydy's instructions? Not sure why they'd be repopulating without you having run a repair on the game. Edited June 1, 2024 by BeforeBroadband

I placed the stock kneeboards in a backup folder and Sydy's kneeboards in the above mentioned file directory. This way I did not lose my kneeboard order when the stock kneeboards repopulated. They may have repopulated when I did a repair. I will check after tonight's flying session to see if they repopulate. 9800X3D (5.21GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING Motherboard, G. Art-J Posted June 1, 2024 Posted June 1, 2024 Repair command does and always will download and restore any stock files that are missing or altered in root game folder. This is its job after all. Every next game update will do the same. So you can of course delete any kneeboard pages you want, but sooner or later they'll be back. That's why renaming method suggested above by Cab (combined with mod manager) might be a better solution to fool the game so that it "thinks" modded kneeboard pages are stock content. Then you could just disable them before each update and re-enable them afterwards. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Tshark Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 Good point. Wish HB (or any DCS developer) would not mandate THEIR kneeboards. Put them out as a "kneeboard pack" that can be kept available in "saved games". 2 9800X3D (5.21GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING Motherboard, G. markturner1960 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 If you use open kneeboard in 2 D mode ( and in VR of course) its possible to make tabs where you can have several sets of kneeboards. Then you can simply load the set that you want, alongside or instead of the HB ones.....makes life very easy. And of course saves having to page through 30 or 40 pages ..... 1 System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.
skywalker22 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 What ever you delete as stock, it will be reinstalled with every update or repair of the game. So no need to do that. Although I also don't like having so many kneeboards, that it takes minutes to go through. Would be cool if use could pick those ones that he wants/needs. 1

I use that awesome app, however, the stock F4 kneeboards don't seem to sync. Did you notice that? markturner1960 Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 No they dont, as teh app references your saved games kneeboards folders, but if you know the path for the HB kneeboard folder, you could add that as a tab and it should display those within the app.....not tried that myself though.... 1 System specs: PC1 :Scan 3XS Ryzen 5900X, 64GB Corsair veng DDR4 3600, EVGA GTX 3090 Win 10, Quest Pro, Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor.

I use Vaicom kneeboard function and it also allows you to place tabs on the pages you want. Just a pain to do it every time you get a new aircraft. 9800X3D (5.21GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING Motherboard, G. skywalker22 Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 Actually I don't see my custom kneeboards which I put into "...\DCS.openbeta\Kneeboard\F-4E" folder. I put all my kneeboards into this location. Anyone has idea why I can't see them?

I left three pages that I'm interested in, and zipped the others into a single rar file and left it inside the same directory. Worked perfectly for me. The removed pages stayed gone. Edit: I have noticed that your DCS is installed under Program Files in C drive. That might be your issue. Windows may be preventing changing folder contents. Edited June 3, 2024 by primus_TR

Windows allows me to remove the stock kneeboards, but they are reinstalled upon a DCS repair and probably after every DCS update (will find out tomorrow). 9800X3D (5.21GHz Turbo), MSI RTX 4090 OC 24GB, ASUS ROG Strix X870E-E GAMING Motherboard, G.
