Simware (http://www.simw.com) is pre selling it with ETA 15th May. But the description is a bit disturbing:

"Ka-50 Black Shark Manual as available in the game in pdf format, is now available as a ring binder manual.

Content : 536 pages."

Hopefully, it is the augmented version as advertised by ED and not just a print out of the pdf manual. Anyway, I think the pdf file is less than 536 pages.

There is a pdf summary linked in simware and it's an extended flight manual with some more chapters.

I have just received the Flight Manual manual from the printer, and attached is a picture of it. The manual weighs 0.82 kgs and is 512 pages (+cover etc).

It is now being air-shipped to distribution centres in Europe, USA and Australia.

I expect it to be into retail (Amazon, Simware, http://www.fighter-collection.com etc) within 2 weeks.

The official title name is "Ka-50 Black Shark Attack Helicopter"

Just out of curiosity - are there any flight envelope charts included in this manual?

There is a height-velocity diagram (page 4-13) showing the dead-man's curve and the critical altitude-velocity zone (13-5 and 6)

On May 7th there was a message in this tread that the manuals were shipped and would be at Amazon in about two weeks. Today there is a message stating almost exactly the same, including the period of two weeks. Are they now really on their way?

It depends on which part of the world you are in. UK will be first, probably this week, followed by USA then Australia.

What about Europe? Especially Amazon Germany. And are there any news about a localized German version of the manual?

For UK, read also Europe.

For German, French and Spanish versions, we are waiting to see sales of the English version before making a decision. These books are very expensive to print in small numbers.

Selling it as a pdf for ebooks or for personal printing solutions (in color) is out of the question? I think there are copy protection for pdf, etc. if you are worried about it. I would be more than happy to pay, say, 10-15€ for it that way.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. I guess the English version has to suffice then.

If Amazon US is going to carry them, could you get them to make them available for pre-order? Right now they show them as "out of print".

But it may end up that some German, Spanish and French users don'T want to wait and may buy the UK edition.

Then you think "wow great sales numbers - let's do the same in Spain, France and Germany.

You then expect higher sales numbers but only a low number of sales might be done.

That's just my kind objection and point of view.

Yep, that's what I thought. I myself would prefer a German version but I don't wanna wait much longer so I'm going for the English manual and I doubt, that I will buy another one after that. I guess many people here see it this way but then again it is very likely that DCS Black Shark will be have a very long product life so that in the future there will be many customers who are likely to go for a available version in their native language because they wouldn't have to wait like us.

Where else besides Amazon will carry the manual? I'm trying to place an order with amazon.com but it's currently listed as out of print/limited availability. That's kinda weird don't you think? I also searched Barnes & Noble but they don't seem to have it.

That's also how it was listed on Amazon.de. They've just canceled my order today because the item is unavailable. I guess we simply have to wait a couple of days longer. For another shop check http://www.simw.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=dsp_product_details&pid=2157 .

You still can't order as of today via Amazon. I went ahead and ordered from Simw.com - hopefully they actually have it!

ED - how about just selling this directly? I'd MUCH rather have you guys get all my money anyway. And I'll reiterate my assertion that you are charging *way* too little for such a magnificent piece of software. I feel positively guilty for paying a mere $50.

You guys should *include* a printed manual, and charge $150US or so. These sims have become so much more complex that it seems nuts to ask small developers to charge what some behemoth like EA gets for yet another brain-dead FPS. OK - I'll shut up now. Sorry :pilotfly:

If you would like to buy directly from us then go to http://fighter-collection.com/pages/tfc/flight%20simulation/index.php

However, shipping costs are very high to outside of Europe!

I agree with you that the value of the software is much greater than $39.99. However retail stores will not accept a PC "GAME" at higher price points - we know, we tried!

We need to be in retail stores to attract new customers to our hobby/passion.
