Viper33 Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Can we finally expect the Sinai update in the next major DCS update?
stburr91 Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 There is no word on when the Sinai update will be released, however, it will not be in the update that has been delayed several times now.
rob10 Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Actually, on June 14th BigNewy indicated it WOULD NOT be in the incoming patch, but it was in testing and he hoped it would make the patch after this. 2

To be fair, he said it wouldn't release on the 26th. Since the patch is delayed, there is nothing that indicates it won't be included when it does release. Of course it all depends on how testing goes, and how much work was left for the closed beta team. We'll have to wait and see... That's true, but from his post it didn't sound like it "just missed" being in the upcoming patch, more that it was in testing but still had quite a ways to go. That's why I doubt it has much chance to make this patch even with the delays. 1
bal2o Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 @BIGNEWY hi, any new/info about that ? with update delay, possible to see first's sinai update ? thanks
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted July 9, 2024 ED Team Posted July 9, 2024 Sinai update wont be in the next patch, even with the delay ( we dont want to add more stuff that may create additional problems ) it will most likely be the next one after testing is completed. thank you 5 6 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? TBH, in my book "impatient" does not cover time spans exceeding 12 months - especially in computer software. Personally, I deem wishing for refund a bit excessively, since I still derive fun from the Sinai map - ymmv. And it is broken in some important regards, so an update (as it is now in-house at ED) is welcome. I'm really looking forward to the update, and hope that the kind people at ORT won't let us wait that long for further updates, the past long wait has tarnished their IMHO once stellar reputation enough. It's the normal process: ORT develop and do the module test, then hand off to ED for integration testing. When both pass, it's released with the next release. That's the normal application process life cycle, as it's done everywhere. I would be disappointed if ORT hadn't handed off by now, as a test cycle is usually a couple of weeks long. BigNewy said last month sometime that ED have and are testing the update, so, barring any issues they find that need ORT to fix, it's in ED's hands when it gets released at this point. 1

rob10 Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Is it perfect? Obviously not. Personally (other than the Bullseye issue) I couldn't name issues off the top of my head. I've enjoyed flying it a lot since it been out and I've spent a fair bit of time flying on it. Not sure it's acceptable to have had to wait a year for fixes, but for me there was nothing stopping me from enjoying it so it really hasn't bothered me much waiting for that year. 2

You can't make complex missions because ground units can't cross rivers. And it's been this way for more than a year. 2 1

Romandv Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Even though Sinai is my favourite map, I find it somewhat tiring that units can get lost in two trees. I look forward to the fixes for this beautiful map. 7700X/7900XT/1440p 'We buy things we don't need with money we don't have to impress people we don't like"(с)

Tacan issues, ILS issues, airport issues, AI taxi path issues - and I can count a few more. 2

I'm generally happy to wait for EA development, but what i must say is the long periods of silence have been a bit weird. As in long periods with no replies. The one thing i struggle to understand is the easy wins such as being able to navigate the map with tacan's and radio nav's should be a day one thing. There is a metric ton missing from this map, including ILS freq also - i have no comprehension how this can take a year. For me going forward ED should specify as being a flight "simulator" that the basics such as these nav beacons are present DAY 1, esp with the focus on gen 3 aircraft these days. It is no exaggeration that i have twice as many of my own freq's inserted into the base map, than OnReTech put in the original release. That is not simply not good enough and to wait 12 months without ANY updates i think has been below expectations of even a DCS EA module. Only the Supercarrier has been worse. 5 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DCS & BMS F4E | F14B | AV-8B | F15E | F18C | F16C | F5E | F86 | A10C | JF17 | Viggen |M2000 | F1 | L-39 | C101 | Mig15 | Mig21 | Mig29 | SU27 | SU33 | F15C | AH64 | MI8 | Mi24 | Huey | KA50 | Gazelle | CH47 | OH58D | P47 | P51 | BF109 | FW190A/D | Spitfire | Mossie | CA | Persian Gulf | Nevada | Normandy | Channel | Syria | South Atlantic | Sinai | Kola | Afgan | Iraq Liquid Cooled ROG 690 13700K @ 5.9Ghz | RTX3090 FTW Ultra | 64GB DDR4 3600 MHz | 2x2TB SSD m2 Samsung 980/990 | Pimax Crystal/Reverb G2 | MFG Crosswinds | Virpil T50/CM3 | Winwing & Cougar MFD's | Buddyfox UFC | Winwing TOP & CP | Jetseat

If you can launch and use the map then it's not broken. I just don't get asking for a refund if in the next quarter is going to get updated and you'll have to purchase again. Unless you don't care and don't want to use the product EVER again, then get your refund.
