Hi all,

I have a sandbox mission which listens for S_EVENT_LAND (event id 4) which just plays a sound file every time anyone lands.

That functionality stopped working after updating to DCS 2.9.6.57650

After throwing some extra logging into the listener, the only event I see when landing is S_EVENT_RUNWAY_TOUCH (event id 55).

Even in the middle of a field, you can see in the attached screenshot that the only event which fired was 55.DCS 2024-07-15 23-11-32.png

Did something change intentionally with S_EVENT_LAND? or is this a bug?

Attached is my Syria sandbox miz file, but also the "sandbox.lua" file with the extra logging. You can load that into any mission with a do script file trigger.

sandbox.lua Sandbox_Syria.miz

For AI Units:

landing on a FARP I get event ID4 by setting waypoint to land.

landing on Ground with "Perform Task", "Land" gives also event ID4.

Next to check for players.

take off and landing events issues have been reported

Fix patch 2.9.6.58056 (July 22) worsens this bug. Landing events (neither 4 nor 55) aren't invoked for landings outside airfields or FARPs in helicopters. Event 4 isn't invoked at all for helicopters, even on FARPs.

May I also trouble @Flappie to kindly look at this. Not receiving a landing event for helicopters outside airfields/FARPs kills the functionality of many troop insertion and extraction scripts.

Hi @cfrag. Thanks for the precious info.

I don't wish to bother you if this is already known. I'm unclear. The hotfix that came out a few days ago that stated it had fixed this made it worse. The update indicated takeoffs and landings were not being credited.

The takeoffs were working before the fix for the AI planes. Now they are not. I don't see that as much of a problem but something I noticed. I made a few posts about it and completely documented it a few weeks ago and updated it after the hotfix. I was told I posted in the wrong place which I still do not understand. It's okay. I'm flying an instant mission. The two AI aircraft that took off there did register their takeoff in the debrief before the hotfix, now they don't and I still do not get credit for landing. I've been at 106 most of the month. I am sorry if this was already understood.

I was probably one of the first to notice this right after the release of the update on July 11, I immediately reported i,atafter the 22nd july another update it got worse, for me this is a fatal error because I haven't been flying at all since then because of this specific problem, we are waiting for a fix...
