Great there is a way - and actually, this is a better way, because finally this is a Saved Games setup, not messing with the installation stuff.

Of course, *.lua suffix would be more handy for syntax highlighting in editors. But thanks for the info!

Or, just a thought, have this available in the launcher or 'cogwheel' config pages. Revolutionary, I know, having customizable options helpfully accessible to users. Maybe in a couple of years...

the new way to enable this is, go to autoexec.cfg in your dcs saved games \config

add following line:

input =
{
command_code_tooltips = true,
}

Hi, i dont seem to have the autoexec.cfg file... would you know why by any means?

ideas?

the line seems ok, so only explanations that come to mind:

1) You are using an older version of DCS, as this option is fairly recent.

2) Your /Saved Games/ is not on the path you think it is.

Attach your dcs.log file to gather more clues.

Its same as yours, but here is anyway

autoexec.cfg

Checked your log and everything seems in order, your autoexec.cfg should be at C:\Users\andre\Saved Games\DCS\Config\

And that is exactly where it is. I also tried yours with no luck. Honestly I wouldn't know what I could be doing wrong

I have problems with that function too.

If I fly and go to control setup, the tooltips dont pop up. If I then quit the mission, and go into options > controls, then the tooltips are shown.

There is something wrong with it.

Same for me, I only get the tooltips when I'm at Options -> Controls, not while flying. It doesn't bother me anyway, as once I research a Code I then note it on my own spreadsheet.

Just found this after a few hours searching for the old one thinking the feature was removed.  Thank you all for posting the update on how to enable this feature again!  😀
