The game was non-responsive with an eternal hourglass blue circle trying to select a slot on a server. I had to Ctrl Alt Del to Task Manager to stop the process. The second attempt led to a crash. Log attached.

same problem, this new spawn system is pants! I don't even get a crash report now it just bombs out or acts like it has a massive memory leak.

Same here, I had to disable super carrier module to get it to respond. Even then its very flaky and crashes frequently. Pretty disappointing really.

Same - I've posted this also. Grey Flag and Buddyspike are the most affected for me. Every time you try and slot you get a spinning load symbol and then CTD.

After the last patch, I like the new options and graphics on the map, but to me (as a programmer) it feels "synchronized" - one thing waiting for the other. The slot selection is VERY slow. The slot selection dialog should work fast, instead it feels like it's waiting for the map in the background to draw all the stuff.

The map enhancements during slot selection are great, I love it, but it should not slow down other things.

This is just crap! Can we go back to the DCS days when it worked? I get hourglass, white screens and the option to kill DCS just to get back to this same error. I would really appreciate it if I could fly again. Going on three weeks without being able to fly.

Same here DCS dumps ram memory and hangs up. Can't fly MP since update.

Has DCS mentioned anything new about it? I think nineline acknowledged the issue in another thread, but I haven't seen anything beyond that.

No science - but I zoom in to the map before coalition selection.  Then pick side -> slot and it's been fine.  I haven't poked the bear by trying to use the sliders quickly or anything.

Still not fixed. It’s possible to join small servers but larger ones will just freeze the game.

Same here.. mostly in Enigma's cold war server.. the other 2 i play Syria kinda work but laggy as hell on start..

 

Some folk told me to disable Supercarrier and it worked much better (i could actually play)

Same. Don't own Supercarrier, and I cannot join any multiplayer server. Hangs indefinitely, then crashes when I try to tab out.

I'm beginning to think this might be a server side issue. I've also seen this problem intermittently for weeks, if not months, and I run a dedicated server it's own server PC from home that many clients join and fly periodically. I was just running some tests with the new Airboss slot and was working fine until I had tried to select another slot and my local DCS MT 2D game became non-responsive. I too had to CTL-ALT-DEL and end task as it was maxed out on memory resources, and I've seen this same behavior on my gaming rig as well. After multiple attempts and reboots, the only way I could avoid this was by restarting the server. 

My question to all of you reporting here is have you ever successfully avoided this non-responsive behavior after a subsequent connection to the server WITHOUT that server being restarted? If not, maybe I'm onto something here.

After selecting and entering side, server/dcs freezes. Than DCS crashes. Tried yesterday to fly, results: after 1 slot enter, the rest tries is not possible, whole dcs freezes than crashes. My modules: Mig-21, f-5, Syria, Caucasus, Persian gulf. Rest of modules switched off.

I have same issue but its only on one of 3 different servers i tested tonight. I get good frames on selecting the blue or red but once i click blue i got 1 fps and if i can get in a slot and spawn in it runs fine, normal fps but then i go back to select role the fps goes to 0-1fps then i click spawn back in and its fine and i did it again and same issue until game crashed on the screen

Same issue here. I'm unable to join most servers without the game completely freezing up. I think it may have to do with the number of available slots, as it still seems to work for servers with lower maximum allowed players. Patchlog says

Known issue: Performance drop in some populated multiplayer servers when the “Select Role” window is displayed.

But in my book this is not a performance drop - the process just eats up all available memory and freezes until killed by the task manager. I'd like a moderator or developer at least to acknowledge that there is a more major issue than just a performance drop and that they are looking into it.

Looks like the latest update on 8/14/24 fixed this for me. No delay or problems joining online.

Hmm, I also tested after the update but the issue persisted.

I wonder if it might be a configuration issue, because the servers I'm testing on are quite populated so I guess it works for a good amount of players. I did a repair of course but i didn't reset my configuration files yet.

Edit: I see a lot of posts about a similar issue connecting it to the supercarrier module. I don't have that module though, so that's not the cause.

I tested this on Contention which is a fairly populated server. No trouble. I do have Supercarrier installed too.

Still no luck. Things I tried after hearing it's working for you again:

- Updated GPU-Drivers

- Completely uninstalled DCS, backed up and removed the configuration files in "my saved games"

- Freshly reinstalled DCS, without any modules (apart from the SU-25t and TF-51)

Even in this absolutely fresh and standard configuration, I am unable to join larger servers.

 

My system specs are as follows:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X

- GPU: AMD RX6800 (16 GB VRAM)

- RAM: 64 GB

I had no problems joining larger srevers prior to the new spawn system update.
