golani79 Posted September 21, 2015 Posted September 21, 2015 I normally don´t use Max but I think this should do the trick. Select your image plane -> right click -> object properties -> freeze >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
joey45 Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 Untick "show frozen in grey" . I'm away from my PC for a few days so I can't do much, some peeps here will say more. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Farlander Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 (edited) Thanks guys. Working now.. Tried freezing, but as joey said untick "show frozen in grey" works :) Edited September 22, 2015 by Farlander
outbaxx Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Put them in a separate layer and use the layer manger to freeze them/ hide them. 1
Farlander Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Another little question... is it possible for the blueprint to be shown in wire-frame mode?
Fracture Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 alt+X will toggle the diplay properties of selected object\sub-object, so you can see through it when needed.
Jacks Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I am slowly teaching myself to 3D model and find blender easier to use but found it find difficult to the texture the blender models in 3Ds max and could not get it to UVW unwrap correctly (there was no option for faces in UVW unwrap just edges and polygons). In the end I simply textured each object with a solid colour using the material editor. Will these textures show in DCS or do I need to create a UVW map? Are there any plans for an EDM plugin for Blender. Farlander Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Well.. that was the result.. it looks just ok for a first try, but deleted and started over again with a new technique  1
Farlander Posted October 15, 2015 Posted October 15, 2015 Thanks guys, coming along better now. My try at a Pilatus B-4-pc11 (see profile) :D Question: Wing is made as a separate object, Am i supposed to actually "attach" it to the Fuselage object? and yes.. my smoothing is screwed up right now... :pilotfly:
joey45 Posted October 16, 2015 Author Posted October 16, 2015 (edited) IF you attach wing to the fuselage [or visa versa] it will inherit the properties of what you are attaching to, so no. IF you do , do it at the end after you have finished everything including texture. When it gets exported it will be a complete object even tho it isn't. EDIT: Also animations may not work if you attach. Edited October 16, 2015 by joey45 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Sminovik Posted November 5, 2015 Posted November 5, 2015 Hi, I want to ask about the compatibility of Blender and DCS world? I mean can I model it in blender, export to something 3dmax can read then use the provided plugins to create a final 3d object in game?
joey45 Posted November 5, 2015 Author Posted November 5, 2015 Yes. make in a separate 3d program then export to 3ds max, one that the plugins work with, then go from there.. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Sminovik Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Yes. make in a separate 3d program then export to 3ds max, one that the plugins work with, then go from there.. Do you have any experiences with the conversion, are there any troubles than use directly 3DMax to model? I don't want to pay the license of 3DMax, at least for now.
joey45 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 No sorry. I don't have any. You could try google.. I don't even know what extensions Blender can export with. Discus177 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Also reset the smooth settings in your poly control panel on the right and have a play with numbers to get a consistent smooth look to your model.

Hi, i work with Blender and the fbx addon exports the model properly with the UVs, i have try only with multi/sub objects-standard materials and works, i don't have try to export the model with animation or with constraints. Here is the link with the options that the addon offers : http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Import-Export/Autodesk_FBX
il200 Posted November 12, 2015 Posted November 12, 2015 Hello Sorry for my simple question. I start to model aircraft for DCS. How the model must be positioned in the 3Ds Max? Thank you for advance.
flare2000x Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 So, I started 3d modelling a little while ago. I'm not great, but here's a Draken I've been working on! http://imgur.com/a/SYcQ9 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS:WWII 1944 BACKER --- Fw. 190D-9 --- Bf. 109K-4 --- P-51D --- Spitfire! Jacks Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 Looking good flare. Is there any point assigning materials in blender as they will need reassign and 'making cool' once converted to 3DS Max? System Specs: i7 8700k @ 5.0GHz (not delidded), ASRock Extreme4 Z370 MOBO, EVGA GTX 1080 SC 8GB, 32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200MHz DDR4 RAM, Samsung Evo 240GB SSD, Samsung Evo 500GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Noctura NH-D15S Heat Sink, Acer VE278H 27" 1080p Monitor, Ocukus Rift CV1. flare2000x Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Hmm, I wasn't really thinking of that. I don't have 3ds max though. Turning this into a DCS mod isn't my top priority, I just wanted to make a cool model! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS:WWII 1944 BACKER --- Fw. 190D-9 --- Bf. 109K-4 --- P-51D --- Spitfire! JustVisiting Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 (edited) As of late I have been more of a layout designer kind of person. I take my Maya models as a start and use Photoshop to create the layouts. I'm still new to this so I don't have much. My original layout pages are between 12000 and 25000 pixels across. I'm not interested in model creation for DCS so I figured this would be the right thread to simply show some work. Edited April 24, 2016 by JustVisiting
JustVisiting Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Here are some additional images of stuff I have built in the last six months. The models aren't perfect and I can't vouch for total accuracy but I need to build quick for my job. There are a few areas here and there with the models that make me cringe but even real minor things can cause that to happen.
