Can't update Flaming Cliffs 3

I purchased the FC3 update at the same time DCS was updated. For the last 7-8 times I opened DCS it indicates the the FC3 update is available. I select it and it updates then the next time I open DCS it indicates the update is still needed.

yes lot of us, have the same issue, seem to be a dcs bug, we must wait the patch until they fixe it, it update airplane, but the installation is not deleted after update and ask to apply again and again and again.

Yes, have done it several times. The next time I run DCS it say they need to be installed again.

I certainly hope so. What is quite concerning to me is that this problem is not limited to just FC3, but Afghan & Normandy also. That would indicate that EDS has a much wider problem with how they are handling authorizations. This does not place their QA process under a favorable light. 

As for myself,, I’ve completely lost 2 individual aircraft, cannot run any missions for either of them, and cannot find a way to individually re-install either of them. Can’t wait to see how EDS resolves my issues.

That’s certainly on my todo list for resolution of this issue. They certainly are aware of the problem; I’m giving them time to focus and get it right. I would hope they would create a site-wide post with the solution steps.

they did last night, it should have been fixed by now.

It was but then some people have started having problems again. I still suspect it might be Malwarebytes if they haven't added the folders to the whitelist, it's acting really bizarre and McAfee. That is if they got either of them but worth checking AV.

First day of the patch Malwarebytes flagged 4 files, added them to the whitelist 2 days later, the following day they were added back along with about 10 other DLL files, then the day after it rose to 18 files, the following morning all 18 were whitelisted then this morning it added back about 8 DLL files in all it's affected every FC3 aircraft by removing a single file. Just done a scan with Malwarebytes and came back clean :megalol:

I can’t speak re: possible interference by Malwarebytes or McAfee, as I’m running with Windows Defender as my AV tool. But I don’t recall seeing any messages on my side re: possible malware being found. I was running with DCS V2.9.5 (reluctant to upgrade to v296 after reading about the problems). And then magically the authorization problems appeared on my V295 DCS. So, if my DCS version stayed the same with v295, what happened to suddenly trigger the fireworks? Maybe my Windows Defender updated its virus definitions, or maybe DCS did something new on their authorization servers.

But either way, we’re not getting any insights from the folks at DCS, other than the vanilla ‘we’re working on it’. 

Hoping their forensics teams can get to the bottom of this.

last time it was a Razbam module: Harrier, Mirage2k, Eagle...people, just whitelist the whole of DCS. The odds your pc even catches a cold anymore are slim to none. Honestly I cant even remember the last time Windows Defender even caught a whiff of something legitimately dangerous.

There seems to have been two separate authorisation issues causing more or less the same problems at the same time recently.

For some people, Malwarebytes and McAfee were putting files into quarantine and causing authorisation issues and aircraft disappearing. Then of course not everyone uses those products which is where the other issue came in and that problem was on ED's side, which they identified and were working on. I suspect that the ED problem affected you more as that would have caused issues regardless of what build you are running. It does seem recently that DCS has had more issues than normal, maybe it should have been suspected when they released an update saying the latest patch had been delayed to multiple issues then a week later it's pushed out. Personally I would have sooner waited an extra week or two and not had all the headaches it's caused and it seems one thing gets fixed and another 10 issues are created.

Malwarebytes caused more problems than most this time round, for those that use it. Normally it will flag one or two files then whitelist them 12/24 hours later, this time it was back and forth which you have to ask why. Thousands of people submit files daily for manual examination if they still consider it a risk, a very small percentage of these get added back to the blacklist after manual examination.

This time when I opened DCS MT it indicated that I needed an update. After trying to update it finally completed on the 4th attempt. Seemed to fix the Flaming Cliffs update issue. However, when I opened the missions and tried to update key bindings I did not have full travel of the mouse, could only get out by exiting the game . Only tried with the Grenelli<SP> F22 so far. Will try another next time.

Not sure how to post screen shots. But, what happens is that every time I start my computer then open DCS to the first screen I get the red button indication that there are updates available. I select and update then when DCS reboots after update it indicates that FC3 is available and ready to play,(no red button/dot). After I stop playing and turn off computer the next time I turn the computer on and open DCS the red button/dot indicating updates available has returned and I must go through the update process again. I did purchase the FC 3 2024 update as well. Hope this explains it well enough. The screen shots would simply be of the DCS opening screen showing indications of the need for the update and what updates are available, FC3.

did you check to see if the su27/33, mig-29s, f-15, a-10, or su25 were installed? standalone? its possible fc3 wont show as installed but the other aircraft will be separately.

it may or may not be like that. I have all of the individual aircraft + FC3 and FC3 shows to not be installed on my rig...but the individual aircraft are. I do get the update bug as well saying FC3 needs to be updated or installed, but it already was installed.
