Kiseki_Yu Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 I'm very sorry to ask a stupid question. For F16, if there are two targets, what should I do if I want to attack these two targets consecutively with GBU-38? In the case of the F18, it is possible for the two bombs to store the coordinates of different targets. does the F16 have a similar function?

Hey, F-16 doesn't have similar function like F-18 where you store coordinates in each bomb, but instead you can create mark points with TGP for example or make steerpoints in mission editor or in the jet, then when dropping the bombs you need to switch those points. 2

Yes, this is what I did. Thank you for telling me that F16 does not have the same system as F18.

Nealius Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Markpoints or drop, slew, designate, drop. If it's only two targets, it's usually more accurate to manually target between drops while lasing the designation. The GBU-38s with plugged nose fuses have had very poor accuracy for me recently, while the DSU-33 ones seem hyper accurate for some reason.

Didn't have a single failed drop yet, they used to be more like 75% prior to the last few patches.

The F16 does have a system similar to the F18 in which you can introduce PP coordinates in the mission computer for the bombs. But it is not implemented, supposedly it will come with the DTC. Think of it like it is a USB pendrive with all the mission information that you plug into the plane. But all military, very big, boxy, sturdy, unnecesarilly complex and coded. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dragon1-1 Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 Not unnecessarily complex, it simply started out in the 80s, they couldn't have made it any smaller and still have it hold all the necessary data. In many ways, it's like an oldtimey console cartridge, only more rugged. The modern version holds over 128GB of data and has a lot of features such as integrated tests and fault detection. This complexity is very much necessary for what it does.
