MP: TGP only slaves to first created STPT, won't slave to others or Markpoints

Recommended Posts

Specific conditions:

1. Slot into Dynamic slot that has no waypoints set, choose F-16, ramp start
2. Manually input coordinates for STPT 1
3. TGP slaves to STPT 1 as normal
4. Create markpoints with TGP
5. Cycle markpoints and TGP will snap back to STPT 1 every time, even after CZ
6. Manually enter coords for STPT 2
7. Select STPT 2 and TGP will snap back to STPT 1 every time, even after CZ

Fortunately SPI still works for weapons employment, but TMS-aft would keep sending me back to STPT 1 instead of last SPI.

In standard MP slots with waypoints already loaded, everything works fine. All I have at the moment is a long MP track file with some button mashing as I was troubleshooting: https://we.tl/t-0AwNLrW6ph

Hello @Nealius

Unfortunately your track doesn't replay very well.
It's running several scripts (Mist, CTLD) and we require clean installations to make sure it's not a script interfering with the operation.

I tried to follow your steps carefully in an MP environment and couldn't reproduce the issue you described.

In step 4, are you pressing TMS to go point track and then press it again to record the coordinates? This is a known item that sometimes confuses people.

I managed to cue the TPOD to the correct steerpoints 1 and 2 created by hand, and Mark points 26 and 27 created with the TPOD.

Looking forward to your reply.

Yes, firing the laser prior to commanding point track.

Regarding scripts, they're often the only way we can get any actual gameplay, otherwise we're left with a cockpit simulator and not much to do with it.

I have the same/similar problem, I thought i was going mad.

This is in single player, I can create a steerpoint, 21 (as it i had MGRS) but when, i come to create a second waypoint for the next target, it will not unlock from steerpoint 21, even if i overwrite the co-ordinates for steerpoint 21, it will not enable me to slave to a different location.

I'm fairly certain I have experienced this bug as well, and usually cycling through the modes of the weapon I have selected clears it.

EX: Cycle through CCIP and back to CCRP for bombs or VIS/BORE/PRE for mavs.

I doubt this is intended behavior but might help you guys out for the time being.

i have tried this now and it doesn't seem to work for me, changing the weapon delivery mode will unlock the steerpoint but re-selecting CCRP for delivery will cause it to jump back to where it was before

so what seemed to be the problem for me was this , i had previously used a MAV in pre mode, and whilst it was still in pre mode, it would not allow me to change the target waypoint, even though i had no mavericks remaining, turning of pre mode on the maverick weapons page enabled me to correctly select the new target

For me, I had to zero out my VIS mode SPI. After I did, then everything snapped to my selected steer point. This was after pressing CZ on FCR, HSI and TMS aft., in PRE mode.

I guess the question is, is this behaviour realistic?

No, it was a straight question, I'm relatively new to the Viper, and I wanted to know if this was a bug or not, you seem to be implying it's a bug?

I honestly don't know.

You're creating an 'SPI Offset' in the VIS mode for the mavs, and SPI offsets do tend to carry over from mode to mode - for example if I'm using the HTS pod and target a SAM Radar, that creates an offset that I can use when I change to the TGP to find the radar that was selected. If I switch to NAV mode without clearing that offset, the SPI cursor box carries that offset over to that new mode and doesn't coincide with the STPT anymore, unless your go back to the pod and CZ it.

However it the "offset" behavior for this issue is different than the usual behavior described above, as it doesn't seem to be a relative offset carried over to each STPT, rather a "hard lock" on whatever object you selected in VIS mode when doing the boresight.

I feel that it is bugged because if you were to be utilizing the different weapon modes in flight it would make for a weird workflow, but that doesn't mean that's how the real thing doesn't work. For example, you're flying along to a pre-planned target and and see a target of opportunity, switch to VIS mode and engage the target, then want to go back to the pre-planned target position that coincides with a created STPT, but the TPOD is "hard locked" to the location you just engaged unless you go back and specifically CZ out the target location you locked up while in VIS mode.

Something I've incorporated into my cold start procedure that seems to have fully "fixed" it for me is that after I boresight the Mavs (and the "problem" really seems to be primarily with MAVs) in VIS mode, I unlock and CZ before changing modes, then ensure that the TPOD is facing roughly the correct direction when in PRE mode. As far as "targets of opportunity" go I typically create a markpoint and just stay in PRE mode so everything works like I am used to.

I had a weird issue a few days ago. I loaded tgp and mavs and boresighted on the ground. After took off I selected next wp to attack the airport but tgp refused to look new wp. Sp and cz didn’t help either. Tried to look boresight location all the time
next time I took off w/o boresighting. This time hud showed the new location and tgp turned to there but not exactly to the airport. Some weird offset

No idea if this is working as intended but you need to press CZ while still in VIS mode after you boresight your mavs to get the TGP to look at your Steerpoints in PRE mode.

I believe this seems to affect clients and not hosts when online. I have only experienced it as a client on others’ servers, and I’ve had clients experience it on my server, but I have not experienced it while hosting my own server.
