Booger Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Have you tried the start sequence video I put together as a sample about a year ago? Although I like your video, if this is the turn-around time for future releases, there is no way I'm paying $50 for what can be learned by reading the manual & tips you can get from your squadron mates. Honestly, a year?
miguez Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Although I like your video, if this is the turn-around time for future releases, there is no way I'm paying $50 for what can be learned by reading the manual & tips you can get from your squadron mates. Honestly, a year? Hi Booger, Yes, honestly, a year. Actually, longer now :smilewink:. The build up of equipment, software, putting the business and website together was a big part of that. Then it turns out having a baby takes more time than making one :music_whistling:. I appreciate the continued support I have received from everyone, and will just let the final product speak for itself. Remember, no one is forced to buy it. I do appreciate you being honest though. Stay tuned,

miguez Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Hi guys, Yep, that's it, most of the sections are still offline as I put the last touches to them. As the next days go by, more and more sections will be added. I will keep everyone updated.
miguez Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 (edited) Alright, if anyone had created a user through the login system at Leading Edge Training's website, chances are they were deleted. Sorry about that, but I just finished erasing more than 600 users created by spam bots. Those bots are crazy!!! I have now added a Captcha field to the registration (you know, the image with random letters and numbers in it that you have to read and retype) to hopefully avoid all spam. The forum is also online, although it is locked at the moment. Soon it will open and we can transfer this conversation to there. My goal is to have most of the website features up and running by the end of this weekend. Best regards, Edited March 13, 2010 by miguez 1
miguez Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 (edited) Alright guys (and gals!), the site is up and running. No lessons available yet, but some reading can be done, it will explain how the LET lessons will work, how they are built, how you can purchase it. There are some other cool features also, and the forum is available. It is already in an earlier message in this thread, but here's the address once again: http://LeadingEdgeTraining.us And don't forget to scroll down on the frontpage, it seems it's easy to get caught up on the screenshots... :). Thanks for everyone's patience, this is a major milestone on our way to providing the best DCS training available anywhere! Edited March 15, 2010 by miguez
miguez Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 For those interested, I have made a post regarding the Leading Edge Training Paint Scheme Contest in the Announcements forum here. Good luck!
miguez Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Hi herr_LaSk, We are about two weeks away from releasing the first lesson. One of the things we have to wait for before shooting the final videos is the winner of the Leading Edge Paint Scheme Contest, as that will be the livery used for all Flight School lessons. We're almost there!
herr_LaSk Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Great, thanks. Do you have any estimate on how long it will be between each lesson?
miguez Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 We are aiming for a week between each lesson. Since we haven't done it yet, I am not sure if it will be faster or slower than that. but that's our aim right now. By the way, both of your questions (and more!) have been covered in our weekly newsletter, which started earlier this week. You can subscribe by going to the Leading Edge Training website and submitting your email on the newsletter bit on the front page.
JasBird Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Hi I've seen your video and was highly impressed. I definetly gonna check out more. Just a little suggestion. Not sure how you are planning on releasing the lessons, but I would suggest making the lessons specific for the Ka-50 first and then later on do more general avation lessons. I can only speak for myself, but I guess many of the people here have sim flying experience and would be most interested in Ka-50 specific and Heli Combat lessons? I guess my point is that you have more competion and information out there already about general flight and you should first release the more advanced & specific stuff. Cheers
miguez Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Hi LeadBird, thanks for the words! All the lessons you see listed on the website are Ka-50 specific. That being said, we considered jumping straight to the advanced stuff, but decided not to. Here's some info in why we made that decision.
JasBird Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 I understand. I hope you understand my suggestion. I was thinking that even though the general flight is in the Ka-50 I just assumed that most people would need instruction mostly in the Ka-50 specific subjects and combat tactics. I have to say once again that your demo lesson is brilliant, can't imagine anyone doing a better job, and really look forward to future lessons. You really can tell you enjoy teaching and are very good at it.
miguez Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Hi LeadBird, Absoultely, I fully understand it. Trust me, it wasn't easy making the decision to start from simple and then move on to complex, but we ultimately think that's the best for the community as a whole. One thing to keep in mind is even though there are many people that have been flying the Ka-50 for a while now, and are very experienced, it doesn't mean they are doing it right, or that they understand why it is they do it in a certain way. So the basic lessons might help an experienced pilot also. Also, every basic lesson will be specific to the Ka-50, so when we discuss basic aerodynamics, it will be of a coaxial rotor, and not just any rotor, the one on the Ka-50. Finally, thanks again for the words regarding the startup video. I am passionate indeed about training, and I hope that shows in the upcoming lessons! 1
miguez Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Alright, we have a paint scheme, so now I can get cracking on recording the final videos of the first lesson!
SinandGrin Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Hey Miguez I am excited to see what comes out for the combat tactics portion of DCS black shark, since i already have a good understanding of the basic KA-50 systems and operations, but was wondering if there would be any chance we could start to see some training videos for the up coming DCS A-10C release. I know you are hard at work right now with the Black Shark stuff, but I personally would get a great deal of use out of training information for the A-10C before the game is actually released. Just curious if any thought was given to producing a few, even basic, A-10C videos to get people up to speed on what we might be expecting.

It is certainly our intent to release training for the DCS A-10C, although it won't happen prior to it being released. Perhaps in the future, after we've established ourselves as a major training house we will have access to DCS products prior to them being released, with the intent of releasing training before or as soon as it is released. That being said, I think what you'll see is training for the A-10C won't have to wait until the Black Shark training series is complete. More on this soon. And thanks for the interest!!!
miguez Posted April 19, 2010 Posted April 19, 2010 Any ETA on the availability of the store ? Hi FZG_Kes, we're working to release our first lesson later this week :).

miguez Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 Well, the weekend is over and the lesson is not published. It's pretty close, but not done. We considered releasing it as it was, but quickly realized we don't want to compromise the quality of these lessons. It will be published as soon as possible.
