SgtButsy Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Has anyone noticed the load times since the update have increased substantially?

MAXsenna Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Has anyone noticed the load times since the update have increased substantially? Like @zildac implies. After every update, the shaders might be rebuilt. So it will take some additional time every time you fly another map or module the first time. That said, I monitor the DCS.log file with a live log viewer whenever I start or play. And it seems the way shaders are generated/built have changed, and it's much quicker, and that's interesting. The game in general seems to run faster and smother with this patch. Could be placebo of course. If it takes longer time every time, I suggest you exclude Saved Games and the DCS core folder in your Anti-Virus solution. That will make the game load faster, and maybe run smoother. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk 1
Sprool Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 i too find load times into missions really r e a l l y slow, and multiplayer missions even slower. Even clicking on a module in f10 map to go to f2 view seems to halt the game for 30 - 40 seconds.

Art-J Posted November 1, 2024 Posted November 1, 2024 (edited) Interesting. I've noticed every first game launch after reboot (and only that one) seems to be quite longer indeed. So it's not a shaders-related symptom as they're already there. Maybe authorization-related? Because of disc space limitations I had to manually move my DCS folder to another drive so I'm not sure if updater needs more time to find things on my PC, though I always thought it only needed to connect to master server to check what content I'm authorized to use (?). Folder location shouldn't be a factor then. All MS Defender exclusions are active by the way. EDIT - problem solved on my part, see post below. Art-J Posted November 3, 2024 Posted November 3, 2024 A major "D'oh" moment for me. Realized why I was getting longer 1st startup times on my config - I effin' forgot to update Defender exclusion list after moving my DCS folder to another drive! Did just that now and all is fine again with loading times. 2 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

I have not excluded DCS from Windows built in AV, if it continues to be slow (part of it is probably the rebuilding of shaders) I will try excluding DCS. 1
