Is it just me or has the deck crew disappeared from the Stennis following the deck crew update?

A feature not a bug, then.  Yippee ki-yay.  Because there's nothing I like more than having to go and edit over twenty missions that now don't work as expected thanks to an update.

I was really looking forward to this update and it's turning out to be an elephant-sized dropping of a disappointment.

There is also  an issue with the carrier on the Kola map.  First flight the directors directed me to cat 1 which was full of hornets.   No other deck crew would let me launch from cat 2-4.   After that attempt another issue came up when removing wheel chocks,  ground replies with unable to remove air supply.   Even after restarting DCS the wheel chock issue persists.  This is while in the Hornet.     Update:

Well it seems that you can by pass the wheel chock issue by salute, though the deck crew  will only direct you to cat one full of hornets..

We'll probably have to block off spawn points in order to force-spawn jets to whicher point corresponds to the desired catapult. Problem with that is that it severely reduces spawn points and in particulary causes issues with the Tomcat "delayed to start," which is an issue that's been around for at least three years now.

They could have at least kept the basic deck crew and only deleted the directors.

I wish ED would just admit that the Supercarrier should always have been part of the core product and would now just include it for free (I bought it years ago, btw); otherwise we'll just continue to have more nonsense like this going forward.  I would be more than happy to pay $50 - $100 every couple of years for the core DCS product so that efforts were concentrated on improving that.

Hi,

The crew issue on the Stennis is known, and the team are looking to resolve it.

Please try to understand the complexity of what we are doing with the supercarrier, we are bringing lots of new features in to DCS with it and occasionally there will be issues that need tweaking.

thank you

Understood.  On your side, please try to understand that some users might have painstakingly created numerous missions so that they can practise every stage of carrier ops and that it's a bit of a let down when a major new feature like this arrives and they excitedly load up those missions to find... an empty carrier.  At the very least it should have occurred to someone to mention this "issue that needs tweaking" in the patch notes.

I have an idea for a workaround: What about a CVN-74 livery for one of the other carriers? Not sure which of the other ships would be the closest to the Stennis.

The problem is the Stennis is also the free carrier, so both SC and users who dont own it can spawn on it. Only Supercarrier owners can spawn on the other Supercarriers.

thank you

I have no patience for these threads.

The Devs release a great new feature which really adds to the atmosphere and immersiveness of the Super Carrier and is COOL and all some players can post about is that: 1) it is not free or 2) that they will have to update existing missions.

The answer is simple:

1) you want to have access to the Super Carrier features? Easy, buy it.

2)you don’t want to have to update existing missions? Easy, don’t, no one is forcing you to.

Simple.

Dude - You are missing the point. The Stennis is also used by those of us that own the Supercarrier mod too. This is Hippo's point, it should have been caught during QT.

I for one am very impressed with this feature. We have been testing it in MP missions with lots of statics on the deck and results have been impressive considering how complex the aircraft routing and deconfliction problem is. Well done!

@BIGNEWY - Are there any .lua controls in place that allow the feature to be turned on or off, i.e. turn it on for launch and off for recoveries?

Thank you for the feedback glad you are enjoying it.

I'm not aware of any .lua controls to enable recovery and launch, at the moment it is all controlled automatically.

We have passed on feedback to the team about wanting to force the recovery or launch but I have no news to share sorry.

You should probably work on your lack of patience, it would save everyone having to read a post that is of no relevance to the points that were raised.

The "feature" that is being discussed in this thread is that there is no deck crew whatsoever on the Stennis.  I suspect that this is not the feature you are "very impressed" with.  Might I suggest you start a new thread if you wish to heap praise upon another feature, as per the forum rules:

BTW, I am very pleased for you that you are enjoying the new deck crew.  On a carrier that isn't the Stennis, obvs.

well no you and Hippo are missing the point. The DCS newsletter announcing this update said expressly that the new deck crew would be removed from the Stennis for technical reasons and that this was “temporary” until they come up with a fix, so this is not a quality control issue.

Does missing the newsletter absolve someone from missing the point?

We bough it, and got the feature for the Stennis. Then that feature was taken away from us after we paid for it.

Use the SC version then? There are two versions of Stennis, not? SC and non-SC?
