New deck crew on Super Carrier and salute not working

I just can't get past the salute while starting from parking. It says awaiting to salute and while I repeat salute command through the radio menu, the pilot salutes and nothing happens after that.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Afaik there's a second salute command you need to bind for this that's different from the cat shot salute.

Where is this one?  When I search for "salute" in the bindings menu, I can only find the cat shot one that was already there.

Scratch that. There's no new command. The default Salute hotkey should work.

Okay, fixed it by rebinding the catapult salute key. The radio comms selection don't work.

I'm confused about what they actually added or changed.  FWIW, hitting the salute command still doesn't actually do a salute animation unless you are on the catapult.

That's the same as the catapult salute command?

Yes. But apparently you need to use the key binding. The comms menu option seems to not work according to Blinde.

yes, just tested it, the “Salute” command in the Radio Menu does nothing, but if you use the separate “Catapult Salute” key (lshift + U), it works fine.

I hope they change that in the future. It is awkward having to bind a separate key press just for this. On the F/A-18, the “salute” command in the Radio Menu works fine.

It goes like this from cold start on the deck:

1. If you feel ready for start up - Salute - it will attract red shirt and you can go through start up process as soon as he raises hand.

2. After you're done and feel ready to taxi - Salute - if you're allowed the red shirt will hand you over to the nearest yellow shirt and the wheel chocks will be removed.

3. Follow the directors' orders to taxi and line up with the cat, then follow the cat procedures and when you're ready to launch - Salute.

Is there any sort of feedback that you've saluted?  I don't see any external or mirror animation, for example.

not directly, but you will see the plane director walk to a spot in front of your AC and/or the purple icon will appear over him (if you have the option checked).

If you check external view, you will also see the wheel chocks disappear.

I think you mean brown shirt.  The red shirts are ordies.

They looked red to me in DCS

There is at least one dude with a red shirt who's doing some directing, somewhere around Elev. 1 or 2 from what I recall.
