CM2024 Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 After landing and parking, the Parking Menu, with options 'Request Launch', 'Rearm/Refuel', and 'Cancel', comes up. This menu is on the screen even when changing camera views. Is there a keyboard shortcut or hotas control that can be mapped to select the CANCEL without using the mouse? Thank you.
Jel Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 afaik you can toggle the menu with CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+P (or was it +M ?) Have a look at the Supercarrier documentation, the keyboard shortcuts for those actions are listed there. When in doubt - climb. Nobody ever collided with air. Hippo Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 (edited) There is already a set of bindings for this sort of thing. I use them for the radio menus and for the ESC menu (although, for some reason the "Command Menu Select Item" doesn't work in the ESC menu, but <space>, which I have set to "Weapon Fire", does work to select). Very handy, especially in VR, as I can navigate (almost) all menu selections from my HOTAS. Why ED didn't apply these bindings to the parking menu I don't know, it would have seemed pretty logical to me. They work in mysterious ways. I usually use VoiceAttack for that. @CM2024 Like Hippo suggest, you can bind those to any hat. An the hat will only work for the radio menu when it's open, and work normally when it's closed. Just like George/Petrovich. So one can use the trim hat etc.

I happen to use the arrow keys for those commands and use TARGET to program my Warthog to send keypresses (I don't bind buttons). It's possible that using the arrow keys might be the reason this works for the ESC menu and I just got very lucky with my choice of key bindings. I haven't tested. Sorry for any confusion. If the bindings don't work in the ESC menu, then they probably should. If it is the arrow keys and space that make this possible then perhaps the same control combo could be used for the parking menu. I didn't realise they had that dual functionality, thanks for mentioning that, very useful. Nealius Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Are the toggles even working? I've tried the toggle keybinds for the messages and visual indicators, both with special settings checked and unchecked, however they don't seem to work.

Nealius Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Yes, those. Teleport works, helpers and messages doesn't for me. 1
MAXsenna Posted December 9, 2024 Posted December 9, 2024 Yes, those. Teleport works, helpers and messages doesn't for me. Aha. So it can toggle some of the options from the Special Settings on, even if disabled there?

But, I've tried those for the Parking Menu, and no luck. The Parking Menu even stays up when you go to the F10 map. The Parking Menu toggle does not work either to make the menu disappear. The toggle only works to bring it back after cancelling with the mouse. @BIGNEWY Is there anyway to click cancel on the Parking Menu without use of the mouse? Like using the Parking Menu hotkey would make sense, but does not work currently. Or the Command Menu controls. I really like the new deck crew, just looking for a solution where I don't have to use the mouse. Thanks! Edited December 10, 2024 by CM2024 3
Hippo Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 (edited) I sometimes find ED's choices bewildering to the point of intense frustration. They have provided the deck crew parking with its menu; I am immensely impressed with and grateful for what has been achieved, but how can it not have ocurred to someone to think, "hang on a minute, if the ESC menu can be controlled with keystrokes / bindings shouldn't it be possible to do the same thing with this little parking menu, y'know for interface consistency?" Considering the amount of time and effort that must have been spent on the deck crew, I think it would've been pretty trivial to include control bindings for the menu. Sadly, ED do this sort of thing a lot. I'll be off to the F-18 wish list forum later to ask for another minor irritation which was introduced a few months ago, and should not have been, to be removed. Or maybe even the bug forum if I'm feeling particularly rebellious. Round and round we go.
