scommander2 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Hi @Special K, thanks for the explanation. Another dumb question: should I assign P-Cores with dcs.exe by using the process affinity so that render/common cores will land on P-cores (hope)? There is my dcs.log: dcs.log 242.81 kB · 3 Downloads No, your core assignment is all good. Your P-cores are used for rendering already. render cores: {4, 5, 6, 7, 0, 1, 2, 3} You have 6 P-cores in hyperthreading mode, which means that logical cores 0-11 are your P-cores. They are split beween rendering and common pool. The highest performance class is with your logical cores 4-7, which are used for rendering also. Your E-cores (12-19) are used for IO. You might see performance issues due to Tacview, which I would recommend to disable and see if your situation gets better (if it is even bad).

-Scrat- Posted March 16 Posted March 16 (edited) Hi, Same issue here. I have just bought a new computer (Intel Ultra 9 285K) on which I have installed DCS. It's really weird and it happens randomly, sometimes it is smooth and all of a sudden when I reload the game for instance, it becomes stuttering. Please find enclosed pic. So you are always on one core. Do you have anything in your Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\exports.lua? 1

My problem was some Lua code loop running on that single core just after reaching DCS menu, which result in quick freezing entire PC. I solved it by deleting Saved Games / DCS folder - now I still dont know which Lua script there was the initiator of that loop - if time will allow, I will try to find that.

Saying just to inform passing people that at least it is not ultimate solution to solve such problem.
MAXsenna Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Guys! Never delete the Saved Games folders! Rename it! Some users reading might quickly jump to the "solution", and in the process completely wiping every setting for their controls without a backup. Cheers! 5

- Sonic - Posted March 25 Posted March 25 (edited) I have similar problems too: I think they appeared after installing Tacview (immediately uninstalled with Revo Unistaller), but in any case the stutters so massive that they prevented the game or even froze during server loading. I inserted exclusions to the DCS folders in Windows Defender (which I then disabled) but I only had a partial improvement. There are still heavy stutters/freeze in the game. I downloaded the DCS log and analyzing it with ChatGPT a few problems came out, including the suggestion to empty the DCS cache (fxo and metashaders folder in Saved Games\DCS). I also generated a log on Process Lasso and it shows a lowering of the priority of aitrack.exe (perhaps due to Process Lasso, which I never use but I only used to see how it went) and a strong presence of GIGABYTE AORUS ENGINE (which I don't think is good for the PC in general at this point). what do you recommend I do? via I attach the logs dcs_log.log log_lasso.CSV Edited March 25 by - Sonic -

Currently you're 32 GB RAM and 5954 MB pagefile. You're almost guaranteed to be running out of memory with that combo: System RAM: 32683 MB, Pagefile: 5954 MB
- Sonic - Posted March 26 Posted March 26 ok I will try to increase it (I remembre something about this)...in meanwhile I found a .lua file in script about Tacview; I've disinstalled it (I remember also that it give load problems), but this script remain...maybe it could be the problem also.
Urbi Posted March 26 Posted March 26 If DCS.exe only starts with the application priority set to "Normal," don't be surprised. If you leave the task manager open and wait for the processes to start DCS.exe, and after logging in and the subsequent authentication, set the priority to real-time, the sim will run with acceptable performance. After the last update, an orange icon appears in the taskbar. The priority should be set exactly when it's orange. - Sonic - Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) I've to check with new update; tested with version before last after change pagefile (min32-max64). Well, freeze remain a issue. May could be a USB device (I want to change my rudder port, back port of motherboard have issue) and I have to test. Maybe could be AITrack issue? I use a cheap webcam and could be intensive with CPU. I've register the running of session, and how you can se CPU decrease in the same spot ok a freeze: all cores running at 100% and GPU ad 90%...this mean bottleneck (and freeze) I suppose Edited March 27 by - Sonic -
- Sonic - Posted March 28 Posted March 28 After updating DCS and optimizing settings, the CPU load improved, but the last core still hits 100%, causing occasional CPU-bound warnings. However, DCS runs smoothly without stuttering, while the GPU has room for more load.
Keith Briscoe Posted March 28 Posted March 28 Hello and thanks for all the input here. I have Process Lasso and followed many instructions to get it going perhaps 6+ months ago. It definitely helped at the time. Since then, I did a significant bios update and there's been plenty of dcs updates as well. My system runs pretty well, but I would like to go back to PL and clean up / start from scratch that is, have the simplest/cleanest set of core and affinity assignment. Ideally, I will even remove PL altogether if I can find that performance is solid and stable without it. I run in VR. 14900k, 4090, 64gb RAM, all NVME drives. Rather than hunting and pecking through the ribbon bar drop downs, is there a straight-forward way to perhaps delete whatever PL profile I created and just run at 'system default'? Thanks for any guidance.

Remove the core affinity mask. Then to all other issues: - Your pagefile is too small, you want a pagefile of 32768 initial and max size. - Your DCS is modded, your mods are causing a lot of errors. - The scripts in the mission you are using have a lot of errors (for instance AI_Wingman_v1.0.lua) - One of the above is crashing your DCS. - You should think about disabling Tacview for performance reasons. 1 1

DCS is full MT now since a longer while already. You might want to double check your antivirus. Maybe you have a weird one, and not excluded the whole DCS installation directory but just one executable. 1
