Padre Pio Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Dear Baltic Dragon, dear Aviators, I really enjoy this campaign (finished M07 until now) as usual with most of Baltic's products, this one is the highest level of DCS campaigns. This is not my 1st season with F-16 and not the first campaign, but my problem is, that 50% of my Mavericks are trashed. I usually do not play with bresighting Mav to TGP, I rather aim with TGP, then do some correction with Maverick manually and then get a lock. Usual distance of Firing is 3-5nm. I am taking care of proper angle. What is most interesting, very often I cannot see MAV at F6 view, althoug I am sure it has launched. After all, when I try to investigate with Tacview,: Maverick is launched, follows toward the target, but misses. As I said, it happens to me 50-70% situations. Any idea?
razo+r Posted February 26 Posted February 26 What exactly do you mean if you say "taking care of proper angle"? 3nm is not a big distance and mavericks have limited maneuverability. Can you perhaps show a screenshot of the launch parameters when it happens? Or can you replicate it in a short track?

Make sure you keep the pointing cross inside the imaginery "Goodlock Keyhole" when you launch the Maverick. If the pointing cross is outside the keyhole the missile has a high chance of lossing side of the target. (Picture is from an A-10C, but applies to the F-16 in the same way) Edited February 28 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Thank you, our friend just answered instead of me, I was just looking for the picture like above, to describe the "angle" I could send a track but I had very limited time at my PC for last days (sorry for delay). 3 hours ago, QuiGon said: Make sure you keep the pointing cross inside the imaginery "Goodlock Keyhole" when you launch the Maverick. However I know this tip (also trained with A-10C and F-18). It looks like I must perform some tests with various distances. What makes me wander more: What happens with the launched maverick when I am not able to see it with F6 external view (they are unblocked in Gamblers campaign). Edited February 28 by Padre Pio

Can you see other weapons in F6 view in that mission? (You can just launch a sidewinder into empty space in order to test this) Edited February 28 by QuiGon Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

baltic_dragon Posted March 11 Posted March 11 @Padre Pio thanks for your kind words! Though the problem does not seem like an issue with the campaign itself, but rather a DCS - thing if I am not mistaken. My advice is to boresight the missiles while still on the ground, they should work perfectly when this is done. For more information, please visit my website. If you want to reach me with a bug report, feedback or a question, it is best to do this via my Discord channel. Details about the WinWing draw can be found here. Also, please consider following my channel on Facebook.

It looks like I have to change my habits and come back to boresighiting. The problem can be somwhere in my technique too. Everything happens much quicker here than in A-10 and even quicker than in F/A-18 . Thank you all, guys for help!
baltic_dragon Posted March 24 Posted March 24 @Padre Pio which is funny, if you consider that this is a really slow campaign with a lot of talking before you are even allowed to attack. Though a few missions are really more fast-paced, I agree! For more information, please visit my website. Between max. and min. range you have much less time than in other aircrafts. I will keep training Best regards!
