Massive forces were arrayed on both sides of this heavily fortified frontier that witnessed so much for so many years. Ugra-Media has recreated this pivotal “what if” scenario with a level of excellence and detail far greater than ever before. This 980x800 km map includes the varied terrain of the rolling hills of southern Germany, the flat northern European plains that served as the corridor to countless historical battles, and the coastlines of the Baltic Sea. The low-level terrain detail makes this map a must have for attack aircraft and helicopter pilots who just love flying at tree-top height. Early Access Launch Phase 1 will include 59 military airbases, 4 heliports, 27 general aviation airstrips, 40 pre‑placed SAM sites, and summer textures. Early Access Development Phase 2 will add 10 additional airbases along with spring and autumn textures. Phase 3 will add 51 more airbases, winter textures, and the Cold War Assets Pack. For a closer look at Ugra’s developmental efforts, check out their Cold War Germany FAQ. Pricing $55.99 USD at Early Access release (live today). $69.99 USD following the release of Phase 3. Purchase now and save. Install & Performance Checklist Drive space: 205 GB total (Phase 1 download ≈ 110 GB). Recommended: 32 GB of system RAM and 8 GB of graphics card VRAM. Map Highlights Buildings come with destruction states. All East German bases feature authentic RSBN navigation beacons. Densely placed ground objects throughout the map, but important areas are left open for mission builder object placement for costume scenarios. Detailed SAM and AAA sites are scattered throughout the map and co-located with many airfields that can be populated with your air defenses of choice. Why Fly It Now? Whether you’re loitering over the “Fulda Gap” in an A-10, punching through clouds in a Fulcrum, or stalking tanks in a Hind, the DCS: Cold War Germany map offers a new and exciting canvas to experience your DCS aircraft. Head to the E-shop, hit Buy DCS: Cold War Germany and taxi out. DCS Update Development Progress DCS Core We have released the initial version of Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC) that supports custom countermeasure programs and radio presets for the F/A-18C and F-16C. DTC files can be created by single player and multiplayer pilots prior to entering a mission from the Briefing Window. Future updates will expand DTC functionality to include navigation, targeting, datalink, weapon settings, and much more. Additional development for the AH-64D and A-10C II is in the pipeline. DTC files can also be saved and shared between missions and even your friends. Please check out this helpful quick start guide and video, Additionally, when you have created your own DTC file, you can share via User Files under DTC Profiles. The Mission Editor received a new zoom level for the map, making fine-tuning small assets more convenient and precise. Several smaller GUI bugs were fixed and the German Democratic Republic (GDR) now has relevant units and liveries added. DCS version 2.9.15.9408 also includes new persistence support Scripting API functions which also work with the Mission Save feature with custom scripts. Additionally, more user feedback has prioritised our work on saving destroyed assets and waypoint parameters to the mission save file. This will be coming soon in a future update. Several AI specific behaviour problems were fixed and new JTAC voice lines for calling out weapon types were added. Furthermore, specific DCS Core optimisations for resource loading have been implemented, improving cockpit loading and boosting application startup speeds. Eagle Dynamics Modules This update refined many of our in‑house aircraft. As you know, the F‑16C gained early Data Transfer Cartridge support. Additionally, the aircraft received a raft of sensor fixes; from steadier TGP tracking to smoother radar and cursor handling. The F/A‑18C received the same initial DTC implementation, ejection logic fix, and a seeker‑cage correction. AH‑64D crews will notice smoother Cued‑LOS behaviour, air-data probe animation fix, and a less erratic George AI. Rotary fans also benefited from fresh Mi‑24P liveries, plus Mi‑8MTV2 tail-rotor animation and door‑gunner fixes. Black Shark 3’s vibration warning is audible again. F‑5E’s animations like glass damage discrepancies and command bindings were fixed, and the Yak‑52’s brakes, gear bindings, and AI patterns were corrected. Third‑Party Modules & Terrains Our partner developers also delivered some interesting enhancements. Deka’s JF‑17 sports a new SATAC skin, proper brake‑chute logic, and toned‑down radar effects on RWR. Aerges has tuned the Mirage F1 with synchronized cockpit options, safer missile logic, and robust input commands, while AvioDev’s C‑101 flight director and lesson logic were fixed. Heatblur’s F‑4E introduced user‑made Jester mod support, a pneudraulics overhaul, audio refresh, and new training content; the F‑14 squashed audio‑stepping and afterburner‑lag bugs; and the AJS‑37 restores kneeboard data and all‑aspect RB‑74s. Heatblur Triumvirate Bundle Award‑winning studio Heatblur Simulations has bundled its entire DCS lineup into one spectacular offer: the TRIUMVIRATE PACK. Yes, that is what I was thinking - both SVKSniper and OctopusG have done some work - but I hadn't heard of a license (unlike the others). Sad that the Mig-23MLD isn't on the list. The Su-17/22 and Mig-23/27 are the two aircraft I'd be most excited about. 2
towsim Posted April 19 Posted April 19 I used a trip with a PiMax 8, from Büchel to Wunstorf to get a first impression of the Cold War map. The takeoff in Büchel looked impressive to me because I built this airport a couple of years ago for another simulator in the scope of ATC training. Because Büchel is at the western limit of the map, the details on the ground were limited. Nevertheless, the composition of forests and meadows together with the detailed altitude profile made me feel like I was in Germany. As soon as I came to the east, all the expected details like roads, cities, and railways came into view. In this first version, dead reckoning navigation is not that comfortable. Some rivers end suddenly in the green, and the road network is not fully completed. Landing in Wunstorf showed a detailed build of the aerodrome environment. All hangars were in place with impressive interiors. From the technical side, the computer load (7 years old, 64 GB, NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti) was within acceptable limits. Only an old error, noticed a couple of updates ago, erased a color from my rainbow. As soon as I move the view boresight, the entire view starts to wobble. My conclusion is that the map is an excellent start. With the announced updates, we can expect more landscape details and additional aerodromes. Hopefully, even my preferred home base Kaufbeuren in Bavaria. 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
352ndDeacon Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Can all the Cold War stuff like Sam sites be removed so that WWII missions can be placed on it? 1

HotTom Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Forget the jets! I (or my mission-making doppler tttiger) will be using this map for Warbirds missions, particularly the Mosquito. Mossies were long range aircraft that flew missions deep into Germany and frequently over Denmark and the Kattegat as well. In my book, this is a new Warbird map! 5 Exceptional engineering...and a large hammer to make it fit!

Great news, I look forward to your mission content for this new map ... also, I'd like to give you a very public and heartfelt thank you, for all the free missions that you've created for the Mossie: I have not flown all of them yet, but I do intend to visit each at least once. I’ll add my thanks too for the missions, and cheers Rudel for the nod as I hadn’t seen em before now. I’ll keep my eye out for your German bits too then, nice one. 2
HotTom Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I have a ton of historically accurate missions for the Mossie that I couldn't make because I didn't have a proper map. Having much of Denmark and the Baltic Coast also will allow others. Thanks for the kind words!!! 5 Exceptional engineering...and a large hammer to make it fit!
