Weird, probably my poor understanding of physics here, but why wasn't his hand or arm injured from sticking it out the side? If you do this in a car going down the highway, palm out flat against the wind, you can feel the air press your hand back. Now imagine doing this at mach 2. :O

Those gloves he had must be a legacy of space walk testing...

 

But anyway, I still find it hard to believe, there must be some propaganda there 'cause no canopy flight would probably create such turbulence in a cockpit that even hi subsonic speeds would rip the oxy mask off pilot's face...I once took a ride in a An-2 with fuselage door open, speed never exceeding 250km/h and didn't even think of sticking my hand out...

he said he only put his fingers for 1-2 inches outside the canopy. I'd assume it would have to be just behind the cockpit frame in which case there would be enough protection from the air pressure and minimal surface (hand) exposure. Keep in mind the air when it hits the front class it is actually deflected just after it passes it and creates low pressure just behind the cockpit frame.

ah yeah, check the bottom photo... the vertical stabilisers are all the way down.. not possible in real flight aye :) Maybe the pilot is really full of it :D

Yes, the ejection took place on ground - no one denied that, but the flight was real (the speed I don't know).

Never forget that World War III was not Cold for most of us.

BTW. They made a lot of other mistakes... My favourite which I spotted is:

 

- when on MAKS (probably MAKS) Korin with Kedrov stole plane and later arm with full payload after landing the rockets are gone (wonder where?!) :D

 

- refuelling: before taking some fuel in plane was (helmets) 1st: Kedrov, 2nd Korin but later when goes defensive in plane was 1st Korin, 2nd Sokolov and the same was when they landed

 

Strange ha? Nah - little producer mistakes ;-)

Judging by the details of what U guys revealed, Mirror wars script sounds pretty much like Chevaliers du Ciel...I mean stolen aircraft from the airshow etc...

Yes, exactly! Stolen aircraft shooting down Air Force One, but no! There is Air Force One escort which shot some AIM-120C which of course is evaded (Pugachev's cobra etc.) ;-) And the main hero wake up, bad guy ejecting (see above) and succesfully landed ;-)

The maximum speed I achieved on the jet plane without a canopy glass was around two times greater than speed of sound. While on this speed I even managed to pull out my fingers in glove for an inch or two outside - it became heated very fast because of immense friction force plane undergoes with the air.

 

LMFAO.. Who's been smoking crack..

 

What's the term for when a plane tears apart under the forces applied on it? Catastrophic ripping apart of the wings and structure due to uneven loads etc..

 

Btw, at what altitude/speed does the MiG-29 reach Mach-2? We struggle to reach 95mph with the windows open in my car, if you catch my drift..
