Takes a few minutes after every update to toss ~ 50 Gigs of don't need

seems to me that if 50GB  is that important, then most likely what you really need is a larger storage … 50 GB is not going to solve your lack of storage.

1TB ssd is currently sub 50 bucks..... just saying....

Games getting bigger (greetings from the 4K-era), and storage becoming vastly cheaper is just the way the cookie crumbles nowadays.

I'm curious to see how many GBs GTA VI will have.

Have a 500 GB SSD, w/ ~ 20% free.

50 GB is a lot.

Until the next build, it works fine, sans the don't need.

seems to me that you barely meet the recommended storage requirements (depending on which extra content you have bought):

Recommended system requirements (HIGH graphics settings): OS 64-bit Windows 10/11; DirectX11; CPU: Core i5+ at 3+ GHz or AMD FX / Ryzen; RAM: 32 GB ; Free hard disk space: 500 GB on Solid State Drive (SSD) + extra space for paid content ;

Offering to upgrade my 7700K/1080 rig, or just spend my money?

🙂

Works fine w/o the don't need.

Still it is ~20h of time wasting with avg 700Kb/s downloading

Kb/s ?  No wonder it takes 20 hours, I’m lucky to have broadband:

You can’t expect devs to tailor a game to such inadequate specs. It’s up to you to get better service.

SORM hardware can't handle such dataflows

I had to look up what that is…

Don’t know what to tell you. Move. Find a different hobby 🤷‍♂️ The game can’t be designed around such an inadequate connection. Forget liveries, what about everything else?

We really do need a livery manager. Not only for all the benefits of being able to remove unwanted liveries for space, but also to allow module developers to make tons of liveries without worrying about clogging user drives. It's a win win.

A: They cost twice that in equivalent buying power where I live.

B: My DCS install alone is 924GB.

the only way to reach that size is by having at least 5-6 maps and quite a few aircraft modules, how many us$ is their worth? Really you can’t afford a larger drive?

Or multiple installs, which I don't think is that unreasonable in the case of DCS. This would also double (or more) the savings of being able to remove unwanted data.

With all maps and most of DCS aircrafts installed my DCS installation requires approx. 1.45TB SSD space, Saved Games included. A 2TB SSD will be ok I guess, but as I have other games too I decided for a 8TB SSD. Unfortunately I do not have access to any faster web connection than 50MBit/s. DCS updates often requires a few hours. The last DCS update was 110GB for me.

I never said I couldn't afford it, I pointed out a flaw in someone's logic in thinking that everyone lives in the same country with the same currency and the same availability of products.

Single install. My dedicated server is on a different drive.

The narrow-mindedness and constant straw man fallacies in this community are absurd. Please stop with stupid discussions like this to defend unreasonable software bloat.

Oh, I absolutely get that prices are different relative to income in some countries.
Still, if one does't have the means to use DCS, that's (hard as it is) an individual problem. Some people seem to expect ED to cater to the least common denominator, and that doesnt sit well with me.
