Bee_Sting Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 why didn't ed let the russian awacs lend support to the dcs black sharks? i know awacs can call out ground targets. why is the awac is limited?
GGTharos Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Who told you the Russian AWACS can do that? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Bee_Sting Posted August 18, 2009 Author Posted August 18, 2009 i didn't say russians awacs could do that. but they can provide support of some kind.
Rhino4 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 i know awacs can call out ground targets Neg-a-tive. 1
joey45 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 AWACS is planes. Isn't it called JSTARS or something that does ground stuff.... or am i just showing my age?? The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Weta43 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Either way - if you want something like an AFAC, or someone just relaying coms from ground units, the easiest answer is to set some triggers to handle the coms as you see fit... Cheers.
Ramstein Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I also wondered about the Global Hawk unamnned spy aircraft with/without hellfires for the allies. I wonder how to use it in the game (not sure what it is called in BS..) but where is some documentation for using it's features and communications in BS. Thanx.. amalahama Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I also wondered about the Global Hawk unamnned spy aircraft with/without hellfires for the allies. Global hawk can't carry hellfires. Only Predator/Reaper can. Some time ago, in FC ages, some screenshot of a Predator 3D model were shown. I wonder where it is, though. Regards!!
Killin Duck Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Hi, Predator is available for USA, however I can't get the UAV to attack targets... Greets.
MrReynolds Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Hi, Predator is available for USA, however I can't get the UAV to attack targets... Greets. Well i've just set up a mission with an AC-130 (actually a russion an76 because I forgot to set USA on my side ) orbiting an enemy base. I've set trigger points around its course and they set up the trigger "explode unit xxx". Haven't tested it yet as i'm on holiday at my parent using an un-activated version (their computer wouldn't handle the 3D :megalol: hope this helps.
Killin Duck Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Thanks MrReynolds, That might be an option, but that's not a "normal" attack run. I'll try again tonight to see if I can find how to achieve it or if the Predator can't attack targets. Greets. PS : your mission makes me think an AC-130 would be great as AI aircraft :)
MrReynolds Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Yes, it's a shame there's not more autonomy in the AI. As I haven't tested any of my mission yet, I think I'll have a lot of testing ahead when I get back home! For your Predator, you could have it run an attack pattern, and when it get to within missile range....set a trigger to destroy a target 10 seconds later say? Not what anyone would really want, but a work around. edit: yes, ac130 would be a great asset!
Ramstein Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 Hi, Predator is available for USA, however I can't get the UAV to attack targets... Greets. tht is whyat I was getting at, getting that unmmaned to do some spying and report back..
