Trebor18320 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Why does DCS take just as long to shutdown as it does to startup?? It wouldn't be an issue if it didn't Hijack the monitor with a backscreen during the shutdown process! I don't actually care why it does it.. I just want it fixed so it does not. Czar Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Agreed! This has been happening since Multithreaded implementation. Single Threaded didn't had this issue, only on DCS MT executable. 2 monitors here. Second monitor responds normally. I can open a browser window meanwhile DCS is "shutting down" and there is not much CPU and Storage activity when this happen. 64gb Ram here. It would be nice if it behaved like ST did when closing DCS. 2
Lange_666 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 The black screen only appears in 2D, in VR it's not there. Also, if you bring up the ingame FPS counter (and game data) and leave it active while exiting, it's still displayed as long as the black screen is visible. 1 Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. scommander2 Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) For the multithreading model, all threads must join back to the main process in order to terminate them for the graceful program exit. Nodak Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Than why does it die faster and just as graceful with the task manager, dead is dead.

Brute force is always quicker. And it doesn't die more gracefully when you kill it. IT DIES! What @scommander2 says makes sense. Let's say there's a process that needs to write something, like in the log file or whatever. And it doesn't run in the main thread, then the main thread needs to wait until said thread is done. Ever been shopping with your wife, your kids or whatever? You can't leave until they're done, right? (Especially the wife). Now, you can brute force it, but I'll imagine there will be spilled coffee, ice cream and tears or worse, all over the place. That said, I'm sure ED finds a way to stream line this. And also said. I didn't have this issue when I last played DCS in January. Maybe once or twice before last Christmas. Don't remember. And I don't know what would happen in my computer today. Point is, ED needs to find a solution that works across all different kinds of setups. Cheers! Edited November 13 by MAXsenna 1
scommander2 Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM Okay, please don't my words as it. Let's monitor DCS.exe from the task manager in the "details" view and make the column "Thread" visible. Assuming that DCS.exe shows in the "details" view and watching its thread count while shutting down DCS... The thread count will decrease to 1 and the program exits. Hope it helps. jackd Posted Thursday at 12:51 PM Posted Thursday at 12:51 PM I seriously have problems with this DCS MT thing .... DCS starts and closes very slow, and i used all sorts of repairs and refreshing procedures. NaDa. Also in the ME i cannot delete a once installed plane, the delete function only works for added waypoints. And why do i get that NVDIA splash screen, i dont have an NVIDIA RTX any more and deleted all their drivers with the DDU uninstaller. have an AMD 9070 XT now BTW.

There's no going back to DCS ST. You may have other problems, mods, slow disk or AV checking the files thouroughly. I suggest making a new thread with a log. 2. Use the red X on the left bar if Delete key won't work. 3. This is to inform that the game supports nVidia's DLSS. Nothing to do with your card.
