th3flyboy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 if there was TrackIR support, I'd consider it, however racing games - trackir = no fun... Current Sims: DCS Black Shark, Falcon 4.0, X-Plane 9, Steel Beasts Pro PE, IL-2 1946, ArmA 2, FSX, Rise of Flight, EECH, Harpoon 3 ANW, CSP

topol-m Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 You may wanna try out this mod - http://forum.racedepartment.com/need-for-speed-shift-downloads/24191-download-real-mod-2-0b.html It repairs the handling of the car which i think is awful in the vanilla. The mod is making it more like in GTR2. The annoying sliding at higher speeds (the horrible problem with sliding in every corner in oval tracks  for instance) can be reduced with increasing the Speed sensitive steering in the options, then at higher speed the steering is less sensitive. zdXu Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 did another little clip, this time some rear view cam action , amazing touch is the sound tones going through tunnels. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqFEJ3KH7MY Dont know what you are thinking and put out these crappy youtube-stuff with all these unrealistic track-, back- and other views (see 1st posting). Dude its so simple. Keep it realistic and go for a 1st-person view and THEN you get excited => http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwUYZVz1A7E
diveplane Posted October 7, 2009 Author Posted October 7, 2009 hope you guys enjoyed the little clips i made , am really enjoying this game . 1 https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.

159th_Viper Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 if there was TrackIR support, I'd consider it, however racing games - trackir = no fun... -fox- Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 There's a mod that adds unofficial TrackIR-support but I heared it's causing problems like CTDs or the game won't start. Haven't tried it yet, has anyone else here made experiences with it? Here is the mod, btw: http://sommergemuese.klee.in/2009/10/need-for-speed-shift-trackir-support-und-realtime-camera-control/
159th_Viper Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 Haven't tried it yet, has anyone else here made experiences with it? Will Tinker tomorrow or the next and let u know. There's a version 1.2 of the Mod out, tested with XP and Win7 - Link here: http://www.tocaedit.com/IB/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=48# Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? -fox- Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the link to v1.2, didn't know about that - I'll give it a try tonight. Edit: Just tested the mod a bit and it worked without any errors or crashes (apart from having to upgrade my Direct X to the August09-version before I could run the game with the mod). It works pretty good so far but there's quite a drawback: it easily trippled the loading times (before/after races, menues, etc) on my machine and there's some perceptable latency between moving my head and the in-game movement - not too much though. I hope there will be an official patch that integrates TrackIR and different FOVs in a more optimized way sometime. I think I won't use this unofficial workaround very often - I am just too impatient for it. Edited October 21, 2009 by -=fox=-
diveplane Posted October 21, 2009 Author Posted October 21, 2009 in time am sure they will add it. =patch https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
Warbird_242 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Ohh that game looks gooood :D How realistic is the handling?
-fox- Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 (edited) I'd say like a fun mix between arcade and sim (reminds me very much of Gran Turismo, which I loved) I use the Real Mod v2b (see link below), which pushes it more into the sim-direction but I'd say it's still not ultra-realistic. I really like this game so far and I don't understand why there are so many bad user-reviews. http://www.virtualr.net/need-for-speed-shift-real-mod-2-0-released/#comments Edited October 21, 2009 by -=fox=-
diveplane Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 (edited) there is a mod patch that increases handling to a more realistic setting, not quite race on or r factor , but i rekon with more modding this will be very good. one thing its superb on is visuals and sounds .
