TheMoose Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) FC2 should be DX10 as a min upgrade? What do you think....Better shadders, better shadows.... ? >At that price? lets push it at 40$ US and give us our dx10?.... That will be worth it... Edit: What`s the Mig29-S specs? >What's the differences? humm, that itself is music to my ears 8) I wish you all the best ED. Grimes Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 One must take into account that Eagle Dynamics is not like most other gaming companies. As much as I despise that fact it happens to be true. Most games have somewhere between 5-10 patches throughout their lifetime with the frequency of patches becoming less and less as time goes by. Majority of them are just bug fixes, UI additions, or balance fixes, but from time to time real content is added in some form or another. For instance, in Battlefield 2 we got a few new maps, Team Fortress 2 has at least doubled the amount of content in the game since release and its not even an MMO, Company of Heroes has added compatibility patches so all owners of their games can play online no matter their combination of standalone products. Starcraft 1 still receives minor updates to the gameplay mechanics and its over 10 years old. However between Lockon, Flaming Cliffs, and DCS we've had (correct me if I'm wrong) 5 total patches. Their just not that type of company. So unless they ship a game or a patch that carries the digital strain of the Ebola virus, I'm not expecting an additional patch to improve gameplay mechanics or functionality. But alas, they are releasing a payware patch. Such a patch is the first in a long, long time to actually add stuff to the game. As much as I want to join you and push our luck of them actually making additional patches, I've come to the realization that its just not gonna happen. 1 The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. EtherealN Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 That would be fine, if you want to wait another 6 months and then pay 49 dollars for it. :P Swapping DX API is not a trivial thing. Moa Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 What would DirectX 10 give you that wouldn't kill performance yet you'd really notice when zooming past blurry scenery at Mach 1+? I'm not sure flight simulators would particularly suit the benefits of geometry shaders etc. I think the benefits of pushing DX9 to its maximum potential would make much more of a difference than the supposed benefits of DX10 - particularly when the market is segmented and all the Windows XP machines out there can't use it (and although Win 7 penetration is growing it is still a minority). I think ED have their eye on the ball by choosing DX9 rather than relying on the marketing cachet of DX10.
Grimes Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Donno why people are making the argument about DX10 when Dx11 is out. Besides, Tessellation based surfaces that were added in dx11 would result in very very very good looking terrain and would be more beneficial to Flight sims. coolts Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 [sarcasm] Let’s delay the release of FC2.0 & DCS: A-10 until the devs can take advantage of DX11. It should take about 2-3 years to rewrite the engine from scratch. Then another 6-9 months to get the actual game scripts working. In that time, as we will have no new flight sims to play on, I will come round your house with my Commodore Amiga, CRT monitor and a null modem cable. We can play Falcon 3.0 multiplayer. By that time DX13.1 will be out. [/sarcasm] 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] i7 9700k | 32gb DDR4 | Geforce 2080ti | TrackIR 5 | Rift S | HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO Pedals

I'm thinking of F19 Stealth Fighter where they got the shape of what actually was the F117 totally wrong. Apart from that floored bit of guesswork they actually did a pretty good job with it. Lets have the first supersonic Jet, and then go for DX11 Greetings
coolts Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 (edited) A-10 will be awesome. I have been re-reading "Warthog: Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War " to get me in the mindset of proper OP's. But yeah, after THAT. A fast jet sim!!!! (DCS: Something Quick] IF they don't then we should all go over to Moscow with our AMIGAS!!!! 4csNIp Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 is in 2.0 fixed air refueling, and carrier take off?
Boberro Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 There will be no air refueling. What's wrong with taking off? Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
