I've been wanting one for years since I play racing sims and flight sims. Well, I may just get lucky soon. I did have a question though. s there any noticable effects on system performance, good or bad. I would asume not but I'm just curious. I don't need to be convinced to get one. That's already done. lol

TrackIR has specialised hardware so that it uses very little extra CPU time. Even with FreeTrack, which does not have this specialised hardware, performance hits are marginal, i could not note any difference.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Aye - the only Imminently Noticeable and Wholly Substantial Loss of Performance is to be noted in the Behaviour of One's Spouse/GF/Better-Half, said Loss of Performance Manifesting itself in the Inevitable Complete Loss of Motor Control as a result of being Overtaken by an Uncontrollable Fit of Hysterics and Laughter when first seeing you in your Flight SIM Regalia, now complete with TrackIr.

You will be Glad to note that said Incomprehensible (To Us Flight Simmers) Loss of Motor Control accompanied by Giggles and Mirth and the occasional 'WTF were you Thinking Look' does Indeed Wear off over Time.......How Long is Up to the relevant Humanoid thus Infected. And Yeah - Said Manifestation of Behaviour is apparently Contagious as regards to Immediate Family and Friends within Visual Range......:joystick:

Probably due to scenery density. TrackIR is simply a must. I´m using TIR4 PRO, and TIR5 software.

I have never heard anyone losing 2-3 FPS or any from using TrackIR. I just ran a test with TrackIR on and off, no FPS lose at all.

I never lose FPS with TrackIR, but i read other people have little drop of FPS, i suppose this guys are using very low machine.

I find that trackir software is quite demanding on the cpu, and can require several percent of a

cpu core. Still this is not a problem for me if I am running 4 cpu cores, but it could have

significant performance impact on older cpus, especially if you are close to the limit of the

game's minimum hardware requirements.

S = SPARSE(m,n) abbreviates SPARSE([],[],[],m,n,0). This generates the ultimate sparse matrix, an m-by-n all zero matrix. - Matlab help on 'sparse'

if you are gona invest in a trackir then i can highly recommend the "clip" that you attach to your headphones it have som IR light that allow your trackir to work better than with just the hat.. the problem with the hat its rather limited how far you can view up before it loose track... with the IR light the "clip" you can really move your head arround without fear of loosing track of your head movement.. also its better in daylight the trackir track it better than the hat..
