topdog Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Relatively new to BS.. doing my dues in learning and reading and watching lots.. I don't think my observation of flight technique is going to solve this one though so I'm going to ask directly :) Where is my pilot?! :helpsmilie: All my helo controls are waving around and moving by themselves, I've seen in other vids etc. that inside the cockpit there's a full pilot graphic with hands on the cyclic and feet on the pedals. I'm used to the 'ghost rider' mode in lock-on but having seen a seated pilot in DCS:BS I'd like to have that too. Just wondering if this is something I can toggle on/off, or was it modded in, or what? In case it's important, I have altered vid settings to almost all max, have a TrackIR device, and a freshly installed patched to 1.0.1c BS, flying various tutorials. 1 [ i7 2600k 4.6GHz :: 16GB Mushkin Blackline LV :: EVGA GTX 1080ti 11GB ] [ TM Warthog / Saitek Rudder :: Oculus Rift :: Obutto cockpit :: Acer HN274H 27" 120Hz :: 3D Vision Ready ]
topdog Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) Woohoo, I have arms and legs again. Thank you :) Edit: Lol.. I'm assuming there's no fix for this one (not a serious question) - imagine my surprise when looking in the mirror, I've gone from being a poltergeist to the headless horseman of the apocalypse. :D Edited February 6, 2010 by topdog 1 [ i7 2600k 4.6GHz :: 16GB Mushkin Blackline LV :: EVGA GTX 1080ti 11GB ] [ TM Warthog / Saitek Rudder :: Oculus Rift :: Obutto cockpit :: Acer HN274H 27" 120Hz :: 3D Vision Ready ]
Frederf Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 You can do an LUA edit and make it permanent.
Mustang Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 You can do an LUA edit and make it permanent. Yep, by default C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\mainpanel_init.lua change draw_pilot = false to draw_pilot = true (be sure to use notepad++ for .lua file editing)
Boberro Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Jesus people read manuals and use forum searcher. 2 Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
topdog Posted February 6, 2010 Author Posted February 6, 2010 I appreciate your sentiments Bob, but I'm still 'reading' and haven't got to that part yet. I trust I'm not required to read every page before I am allowed to ask a question. Forum searches - I did a few - came up empty on this (searching on things like 'pilot graphic' and 'missing pilot' etc.). My main mistake was just (wrongly) expecting to find this to be a graphics performance type option, rather than an in-game keypress toggle. Basically looking in the wrong place, so would never find what I was after. Thanks to those who helped. Bucic Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 (edited) The biggest advantage of PDF documentation is the ability to search through it with ease. Use it. You open up Keyboard commands PDF, you search for word "pilot" and you have your answer in seconds. Literally. Same with PDF game manual (Get the extended version from the main site!) and the GUI manual. Get yourself PDF reader which allows to search through PDFs properly. You'll use it a lot. Hopefuyl ;) I see that you already got a warm RTFM welcome so good luck from here! :D Edited February 6, 2010 by Bucic F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close

I am sorry, I am not here to be hard on you but it sounds like a good excuse to not search a bit and loose some time searching. Learn this for life, in every complex simulation you should always read the keys and what they do and even print the layout if you can. And using the search function took me about half a minute searching for it. I just choose "Search Titles Only" and used "pilot" in this forum. The 5th result was what you needed. Regards. Frederf Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Laugh, all this "read the f'in manual!" talk. RSHIFT+P for toggle pilot body is not in the manual.
Focha Posted February 7, 2010 Posted February 7, 2010 Laugh, all this "read the f'in manual!" talk. RSHIFT+P for toggle pilot body is not in the manual. No it is not, so you are right. It is in the "DCS-BS_Key_Commands_Ka-50_real_eng.pdf" that is on "Doc" folder in the main Ka-50 folder. That was what I was talking about. And yes, read all the documentation or learn how to do a proper search on the forums. And don't laugh... It's not my problem but some day we'll see 15 topics about the same thing in this forum.
