It's between an F-16, F-18C and possible F-15E (which would be nice for teamwork nbut singleplayer-caps would be limited so its not a propable choice). Why dreaming about unreachable stars when the moon is as nearly exciting? There's no "Overkill". There's only "open fire!" and "time to reload". Specs: i7-980@4,2Ghz, 12GB RAM, 2x GTX480, 1x 8800GTS, X-Fi HD, Cougar, Warthog, dcs-F16-pedals

For example, even if they had access on the ALE-50-decoy-characteristica, ED would'nt be allowed to use it accuratly in a open simulation because it's classified in the B-1B-bone-servicearea, the APG-79 is a high-level-ASEA-radar which is top secret and the ASQ-228 (the advanced FLIR for the hornet)... is a thing the navy wouldn't really like to share the exact specs with the open. Carrier service techs, tell them! xD So - no super hornet. The Tornado or Mirage would be interesting, I second that opinion, but they don't have the advanced capabilities off the F-15E / F-18E which ED would like to simulate, too, I believe... They would both be blissful in DCS detail. :thumbup: I'd like a F-16 personally, but any of the above will do if I had a choice. I understand the dilemma of not being excited about a F/A-18C model when the cool factor could be much higher. I felt the same way about the A-10A announcement before they got approved to do a C. At least the F/A-18C is in active service with the USN, with like 400 or more currently flying. The A-10A is not being used by anyone. At least the F/A-18C is truly a multirole aircraft that will be able to do it all, unlike the previous two releases. I guess some people have to have the very latest or they are not happy, kind of a shame. I'd die for a DCS-level historical F-4 simulator, personally. Gotta keep it in the missile age though, there's not much to interest me in a sim if there's no buttons to push. Look at all the pretty buttons and switches to push in this baby, F-18C cockpit::joystick::joystick: I'm not saying if I had my pick I wouldn't pick the F/A-18E over the C, I'm just saying, what the hell is so wrong with the C? It's a great plane, and all the bitching and moaning in the world won't make ED do the E model. Be happy with what you are most likely going to get, there's a lot to be happy about. digitaljjd Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 We all do :) Except for those F/A-18-C heathens who want to play a game with a jet with only half the munitions capability, 30% less speed, half the power, and a fraction of the fuel capacity. My question is, if someone gave you a F/A-18C would you refuse to fly it because of the same reasons? The F-18C is probably next, and I'm kinda' glad since my friend borrowed my Janes F/A-18 years ago and never gave it back, so I missed out. I still to this day when out of gas, go...(switch to betty voice)...Bingo fuel, Bingo fuel (sound FX) dur-dee-dur-deet! Your preaching to the choir Speed. I'd be very happy with a C.

It'd be like having a racing game where the fastest car you can have is a stock Toyota Supra.Go big or go home, that's what I always say. I would get and play the F/A-18C all the same because I want something that can go fast, but like I said, compared to many other airframes in the same category it's extremely low-end in every single aspect. I'm really not looking forward to having to hit a tanker twice every sortie and/or finishing them in 20 minutes or less. Especially considering that in order to have any mission endurance whatsoever, you're going to have to carry drop tanks, which means you get to carry two JDAMs and two AIM-9s. Or, conservatively, five Mk 82 dumb bombs. Keep in mind that underneath every F-15E is the ultimate in air-to-air pedigree... I don't think a fight between the two would be that cut and dry. The F-22 would be awesome,or one of the newer Russian fighters like one of the more advanced Russian fighters. I wish they would hurry up and develop the Su-47 already. I'd love to fly one of them. For me it's either the F-4 or one of the late 4th/5th gen fighters.

Plus in a dogfight you'll have to release any drop tanks so if you don't make it to more fuel soon then you will hear. The reason a hornet will only turn with you once is a lack of thrust. More thrust = higher sustained g OR faster recovery of speed from instantaneous turn. The C's have also scored the first self-escort victory. Sure, it was against MiG-21's, and they didn't even have to drop tanks or anything, but they shot the bandits down with Sparrows and went on to bomb the daylights out of their target. It's range is fine. It sucks compared to more modern offerings, but as you can see, the USN had wasy of making things work.
