No. Air-quakers "spam" AIM-120's. Real fighter pilots do not.
F-15's over former Yugoslavia launched multiple AMRAAM's per target.

There is a difference between ripple firing missiles to increase Pk and spamming missiles air quake style.

Maybe knowing it would make the wait even harder for some :D

Maybe. I just got a HOTAS for xmas and I'm amazed by it. Its even better than having a trackIR!

So i'm just extra impatient...

Posted (edited)
Lol. Like me? I wouldn't mind buying another HOTAS for say the hornet, even if it ment living off noodles for three months. :)

Edit: Depends on how different it is, anyone have any good pictures of the hornet HOTAS?

The HOTAS is nothing like the A-10s, but frankly if you already have the HOTAS Warthog, you'd be absolutely fine with just adapting it to the F/A-18.

The stick is easy, the F/A-18 stick is extremely streamlined, it's the same in the F-15. Paddle switch, dual-stage trigger, three-position thumb auto-acq / reject switch, five-position castle switch, pickle button, and trim hat. Leaves you with lots of extra buttons.

F18FLCS4.jpg

The throttle is only a bit trickier because of the analog radar elevation wheel (I assume that's what that is). The throttle grip has a three-position switch on the far left, two pushbuttons on the left grip, a TDC, and then on the inboard side, one more pushbutton and three rocker switches. Since McDonnell Douglass made both jets, I *assume* the rockers are: Radios (probably is four-position these days with the addition of ARC-210 / SATCOM), weapons mode (sticky), and speed brakes (one-way sticky).

Problems: No elevation wheel, no left pushbutton, no right pushbutton, unknown rocker / slider switch function (someone probably knows more here).

Solutions: Use coolie hat as elevation, hope I'm right about the rockers / radios in which case all will work on the A-10 throttle, use extra rocker to replace the two pushbuttons (I assume they are for chaff / flare program dispense, so chinahat would work great for this).

If you're made of money and prize the authentic feeling, go for it, but my thought is that you really won't have any problems adapting your current setup with only a few minor deviations and a bunch of redundant buttons on your stick.

Maybe covered in one of the other 400+ pages but I just can not read all of that..

If the new aircraft is a F-18E I wonder if they will have full carrier ops.? With people on the deck and some "roger ball" type landing stuff.

I recently got back into FSX and my SuperBug and using a cool free addon that has a really cool carrier op missions (not the vanilla fsx ones). Just to get ready if the aircraft is a Super Hornet.:book:

My last request would be a pilot instead of the ghost flier we have now.

I personally dont hope for the F-18, mainly because SevenG is already making one, so rarther have several sim's than 2 competing...

For me the F-14 so i could play wanna-b Top Gun..!

From what I have seen the one by seven G has many miles to go... I wasn't impressed and I doubt they could pull it off before DCS

F18 and Carrier OPs would add so much to A10. If it is the F18...it would not make sense to have it without Carrier OPs... The Carl Vinson looks close to ready to go..

Yes, it would. Countries without carriers use the F/A-18.

I agree but without advanced, realistic and immersive carrier ops its better to have the F-15E Strike Eagle than to the Hornet/Super Hornet finally...

7G maintains a full schedule with speed of 1 year 2 percent , it has completed 70% , so we can get it at 2035. :megalol:

I mean I am cool without the Super Hornet. Maybe make a Russian jet so multi play could have an adversary.

The F-15E would be even cooler to me but the 2 seater might be kinda weird (yeah I know both posits can operate the same systems - someone said)

And another mud mover might not preform as well as a Fighter for escorts.

But if i was to to really wish for anything it would be a US helo...again the two-seater problem. But having a helo lasing for my A-10 would be pretty cool...yep pretty cool.

Something different form the past - like instead of F-16.

btw - are we exporting Super hornets to other countries besides Australia?

One of my friends is the commander for a real F-18 Charlie squadron so I would be cool with a F-18c too. I flew the sim at Miramar....yep pretty cool too.

Take off the conformals, load slammers, and suddenly you have a twin-seat air superiority fighter but with better toys and even more awesome engines than the C. :P

You'll still have a heavy nose compared to a C :P

But yep ... that's exactly what I'd do with a DCS F-15E: Dump all the sugar. Not a pound for air to ground!

I voted on the Super Hornet, because I love the a/c but I quickly realized that carrier ops would turn difficulty to 11 even when flying in beautiful weather. Landing a A-10 or the F-16 lightly loaded is easy, but landing on a carrier is the ultimate challenge to any pilot and this would make the sim even more difficult.

Hehe, but my roommate used to be the LSO instructor for VMFAT-101.

So I have an advantage.

He is currently flying F-5s for an adversary squadron.

And I have spent time on the Nimitz while underway with LSOs.

With his instructions (an me simming from it's birth) I landed the real F-18 sim at Miramar on my first try.

While hard to land it is easier than some think - in sims anyways since you're not worried about dieing. Help comes from auto-throttles and ACLS -but no one really uses the ACLS, but they do use the auto-throttles. (or in the future the JPALS)

Just line up those needles like an ILS.

Don't slap you hook though or they will ground you.

He seems to think the Super Hornet is not that great due to it's size. But then again he fights an F-5 that has very little tech in it.

I will get him to bring his Top Gun vids back with him in a couple of weeks, he used a helmet cam. He has gigs and gigs of vids flying low and fighting out there.

Here is a take off he did for us. Note the bird near the end caught in the backwash. Oh you need quicktime - http://www.skinnypixel.com/Clients/HAI/video.php
