I can remember my FSX having issues with a swapfile, after 'resetting' it disappeared The idea is not bad, but sadly no effect. I noticed that win 7 has allocated no extra memory for my drives (it is set on auto). I have 4 GB and I think that is enogh, FC doesn't spend it all. viper3two Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 Guys I think I have it solved, I did what majapahit suggested, removed LO, LOFC, and LOFC2. Deleted the folders, did a defrag then started over with just LO and LOFC2. Now my fps's in the A10 are around 80-90 on an average....flew over some cities and it dropped down to around 60....good deal, way better than it was before. Perhaps it was something corrupt in the install. Thanks again for all the help!

Mustang Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Over cities FPS drops slowly down 110-150.... So hold on, with all settings maxed out you get 110-150 frames per second over cities?
Bandit47th Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Hi guys I have done a complete uninstall of both LO and FC2 and defraged All setting on high and only slows down to 40 over cities. I have a Q6600 with 6 gig ram and Nvidia 260 216 core Azuntech sound card. Two HDand swap file is on second drive non OS There are a few things that ED could tweak but no show stoppers here. I also noticed that in FRAPS it comes up as GL. Not DX9. Has this always been an openGL game??????? Anyway thanks to ED for making fun to fly again
viper3two Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 So hold on, with all settings maxed out you get 110-150 frames per second over cities? I have a very similar system to his and I am in the 40's over cities with everything maxed. I kinda doubt he's getting 150......:music_whistling:
jetace Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 (edited) So hold on, with all settings maxed out you get 110-150 frames per second over cities? Yes , but i maked some tweaks to graphics.cfg file , i read about them here in forum posts. Look at this : Edited April 11, 2010 by jetace

Squid Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) - do you have "scenery" at "high" ? - in your second screen looks like as if your AA is poor. Also shouldn't the objects in the airfield be visible from that distance? some of them might be potential targets for example. airfield looks empty, just taxiways / runways. Thats something i dont like about those tweaks, some do improve performance without reducing eyecandy but usually have an effect on objects visibility. Also theres the infamous mix of low res ground textures amongst high res ones; the texture surrounding the airfield. - in your first screenshot looks like theres definite shimmering close to the horizon gtx295 thats a powerful card :) Edited April 15, 2010 by Squid . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
KeyCat Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) my vga is ngtx295: AAx8, AFx8 , High Quality Sure you have you nVidia profile setup correctly? Judging from the screen shots posted above you are not using any AA at all... I use AAx8 myself and do not have such jaggies. theGozr Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) Well first the Nvidia profile is bad when you are using SLI.. the 295 is two cards in one witch is SLI but the 295 as a big huge weakness and it is the Vram, it has only 512mb so it will be very limited for flight sim regarding the quality and size of the image. I'm getting an average of 89/90 in cities @ 1920x1200 high scenery with Ricardo pits all shades at max ( i'm against the mod of no shades and no clouds shade for higher end machines ) my seetings are higher that the "High" in FC2.0 using SLI 8 AA and aniso at 8.. ( i did limit the FPS in config to 90 due to the unfamous CTD ) 512 will limit the scenery views distance on textures loading ( as shown in the pictures above ), I have 1 GB with 2x GTX 280's. I'm using Split rendering witch is FAR better than AFR. Edited April 15, 2010 by theGozr Fly it like you stole it..

About FPS, im still experimenting with different settings to achieve maximum FPS/Quality of picture ratio.. What u mean about nVidia profile to work ? If u have some ideas about tweaking and increasing Vga performance i ll be glad to take ur help.
theGozr Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Jetace could post all your Nvidia settings ? and lets see from there. Are you using Track IR ? What is your resolution? Settings in the SIm + Visibily range settins as well ? Fly it like you stole it..

Squid Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 i have the same kind of micro stutter as asparagin and annoying tearing up / waving like a V-Sync off would cause which gets somehow reduced only by maxFPS=40-50 but not eliminated. I have found also that those two are related. The more the stutter the bigger the tearing up. (vsync from the radeon panel doesnt affect it). I wish ii could get read of this tearing up / screen waving somehow .... I always had that with LO and FC1 and any card, either nvidia or ATI. I suspect that maybe all rigs maybe have it but most people dont pay attention, or realise it. FPS could be high but microstuttering would always be there when looking at the terrain from either cockpit or external plane camera especialy when on low level . i7 880 | HD 7870 | 8 Gb DDR3 1600 | ECS P55H-A | OCZ Vertex 2 180 | Intel 330 180 | WD 500 AAKS | 2x WD 2T Green | Enermax Liberty 620 | CH Combatstick & Throttle | TrackIR 3 | HP ZR24W | Windows 7 x64
Arthonon1606687905 Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 (edited) I had what I believe is the stuttering being referred to here, on an Intel E8500-based system with 2GB of RAM and an Nvidia 9800GTX+ video card. FC2 was the only program I noticed it on, and nothing I tried would fix it (changing max FPS, changing detail levels, clearly out any temp folders, defragging the hard drives, updating to the latest Nvidia driver, etc.). It only seemed to happen when terrain was visible. if I were nose-high, I could tell by the flight path ladder that it was moving smoothly. I know it was't a FPS issue because the frame counter held steady at 30+ most of the time, but I'd still see the stutter. I was thinking of buying a new system anyway, so I did, and I no longer see the stutters, so there was something going on between FC2 and that hardware/OS combo, but it certainly wasn't an issue with any other sim, including BS. Sure, I'd get an occasional stutter as something was being loaded, but nothing like the continual stutters FC2 caused.
