Was wondering if anyone is running a profile with Invulnerability set to false, and how far you have made it, either successful campaign completion(s) or rank.

I have been flying a long time, have the ka-50 controls and tactics down fairly well, and I just started a new profile with invulnerability set to false. Flying Republic campaign and so far so good.

- Rank: major or lieutenant, dont know that exactly. I am not at home. But i know i rised in rank once.

- Some groundkills, 1 friendlyfire-kill (2. Deployment-mission)

- Had played 1.-4. of the "Deployment"-campaign (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=836255#post836255)

- Had played all 5 missions of the campaign "At an Angel of 40 degrees" (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=887488&postcount=9)

- Had played 2 other missions:

1. Clear Tkvarchelli

2. ArtilleryHunt (http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=846053&postcount=7)

Would be interesting to play multiplayer-missions with guys who care about dying (without that try and error sh*t).

Edit: Some words from your side to the Republic-campaign? How realistic is this, details of the briefings, etc. etc.?

I always fly like I could die for real, but I leave invulnerability on to keep a constant log of flight time etc. But kudos to anyone who finishes 20 mission without dying, not even by accident.

It would be very interesting to see what the longest logged flight time (+ AG kills) on a vulnerable profile is. Do I sense a contest coming around the corner?

Republic is not bad, though the briefings are not super detailed and being in Russian, I can not read the map text on the visual side of the brief. Though, the text side is detailed and I do have a fairly good picture of what I need to do and intel prior to takeoff. Would be nice though if the visual briefs were more like Georgian Havoc. Very nice briefs in that campaign!

As for progress so far, Republic is "spin dynamic?" kind of like Georgian Oil War where missions seem to cycle around depending upon success percentage of the mission just completed. For example I got a "mission success" on mission 1, but on mission 2, I got shot up pretty bad, aborted and flew home. Landed safely and survived, but I guess failed the mission. For Mission 3, it looks like I am going to repeat Mission 1. No worries though, as I am alive and will carry on. With "invulnerability" set to false, you definitely have to consider "gutsy" moves, and if you take hits, well time to abort and head back to base. Of course, you have to land too with a wounded 50! Fun times! :)

Regarding "Spin Dynamic" (I just made this term up), I like it for handling failed missions. Rather than repeat the same mission over and over if you fail, it is cool to load a different mission at some sort of random parameter? I have only seen this in Georgian Oil War and Republic, but its a cool immersion dynamic to creating campaigns. Recommend it for campaign creators out there.

Well, I died mopping up leftovers in mission 4 of Republic. I got sloppy stared down the barrel of a Georgian T-80 in the Shkval while throwing HE rounds at it... saw the tank barrel smoke flash, then "Bam!" I was gone!

Time to try again!

What about some tracks to get an impression whats going on? (;

Not for spoiling the missions but for comparing the tactics later when someone has flown the mission too.

It would be interesting.

Do you play first person view?

Do you play on "realistic"?

Well would be all in good but I would not trust any-ones submission on how many hours they lodged as you can tweak that feature and add as many hours as you want the real deal would be to get some sort of gaming social tracker i.e., Game-spy, XFire, Steam that would really keep track of your logged hours. Then they wouldn't be able to cheat that. :pilotfly:

I know it's very easy to cheat on something like this, so all we can do is take the pilot's word for it. Very, very naive, I know, especially coming from a German.

I don't want to start a serious contest here, but I would really like to see some honest numbers (hours + AG/AA kills) here. I consider this community to be a lot more mature than others, so I'm pretty sure those who post some figures will tell the truth. :smartass:

You have to specify: you mean flighttime-data from only the campaigns or every flighttime ?

There are different kind of log-versions out for BS. The vanilla-logversion is the logbook logs only the campaign-flighttime. I use the extended log-version who logs everything but multiplayer.

I did not know there were 2 log types. I guess I am talking about total time flown without getting killed, so this would even include multiplayer.

The reason real life ka-50 and apache pilots survive is because they are not sent into environments where there are known 10+ SAMs stingers plus AAA. Unfortunately online DCS many missions involve too much Sam dodging which is an unrealistic game of Russian Roulette. Send in a damn SEAD fast jet first :)

players fly till they die for recce. Or they send poor wingman!

in real life attack helicopters are able to fight from 2k range and successfully employ rocket runs.

Campaigns such as GOW are so poorly designed with a horrifying lack of reconnaissance, support, and pre-mission planning. Trying to play an "ironman" career is like trying to play one of those first Medal of Honor video games with some hyper realistic difficulty setting. It's just setting yourself up for failure at a difficulty miles higher than reality.

I imagine multiplayer is full of "hot shot" missions where it's expected to take 8 times getting shot down to complete the objective.

Ive been playing GOW chapter 2 several months and have been unable to get past mission 5. Many times I dont know the exact parameters for mission success and a mission flown that should have been success wasnt. It also seems that even tho I end up flying the same missions over and over again (usually 3, 4, and 5), I get pitted up against a random number of enemies. There have been missions Ive flown that 3 full loads of ammo wouldnt have taken them all out and Ive had missions where they put in 4 attack choppers as well as a pair of A-10 that easily destroys what little defense they gave me. I have probably flown those 3 missions over 10times each and getting close to giving it up.
