Prophet_169th Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 .... And get the bugs out. http://www.lead-pursuit.com/news.asp Yup, its true. Here comes the competition. They are claiming, that just about everything is going to be update. MP, AI, modelling, graphics engine.
britgliderpilot Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 .... And get the bugs out. http://www.lead-pursuit.com/news.asp Yup, its true. Here comes the competition. They are claiming, that just about everything is going to be update. MP, AI, modelling, graphics engine. I hope you'll understand if I'm a little sceptical about updated versions of Falcon 4 ;) I'll wait and see. In any case, the areas that Lomac doesn't match up to F4 in aren't bugs (F4 is a long, long way from being bug-free, even today) - it's the features that aren't there. Comms and dynamic campaign are the big ones for me - some people will argue avionics and missile modelling as well. Nevertheless, I want Flaming Cliffs, ASAP . . . . http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 26, 2005 Posted April 26, 2005 The good thing is that we don't have to do the patch dance anymore. Bad thing is that the hatesimfanboi folks will start up again.........................
Prophet_169th Posted April 26, 2005 Author Posted April 26, 2005 Check out the developement notes, and the OCA Strike. Pretty impressive if it works as they say.
Prophet_169th Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 Eye candy is only a second priority for me. Its nice to have, but I could live with old F4 graphics. It was everything else F4 offered that made it great. ED is on their way to making a very good sim, but I think they spent too much time with the eye candy. But like I have said before, competition is good. If F4 AF is anything close to LOMAC, it will just push ED more, to make LOMAC better. All good things in the end.
Prophet_169th Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 And the best part like ruggbutt said, no more patch dance. This is so awsome.
arraamis Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Thanks for the link Prophet_169th Thats good news indeed, still love F4, I just hate the dance. Also, fighter ops may or may not be coming, one day, probally.
Stormin Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I hope it is good. I wish them the best of luck as the more flight sims on the market, the better. Hopefully this is satisfactory with the Falcon community, they have as much or even more drama than the Flanker/Lock On crowd. :D
kydius Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I think we should all be happy that there are still guys out there working hard to give us some quality flight sims even with all the problems we had in the past. So now we would have Flaming Cliffs, Lockon 1.2 afterwards, Jet Thunder, Fighter ops and this new Falcon 4. I don't know if they will all make it to the end but for a niche market like this one, it's quite good and we should all be supporting them if we want to continue to have new products in the future.
Outlaw24 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Very interesting, it's nice to know there might be another flight sim in the making. Spoiler: MSI Z790 Carbon WIFI, i9 14900KF, 64GB DDR4, MSI RTX 4090, VKB STECS Mk ll throttle, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate MCG Pro w/200mm Extension, Winwing Orion Rudder Pedals W/damper, Wingwin Monitors/MFD's, UTC MK II Pro, Virpil TCS Plus Collective, MSI 34" QD-OLED @240Hz monitor, Samsung 970 Pro M2 2TB (for DCS), Playseat Air Force Seat, KW-980 Jetseat, Vaicom Pro, Tek Creations panels and controllers.
aceflier Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I would play Falcon, but the game looks so '90's. If they updated to half Lo-Mac's graphics, I would get it. So far, I'm not impressed by the screenies, though. It looks like Falcon with BMS (a free community written mod). Ditto. Looks like crap. F4 never felt like i was flying like i get in lockon and IL2 series. The falcon 4 boys call it fly by wire, I call it crap. :) Least there is another jet sim out there though. 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Slammin Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Thanks for the link Prophet_169th Thats good news indeed, still love F4, I just hate the dance. Also, fighter ops may or may not be coming, one day, probally. NEWS FLASH! The F4 install dance has been dealth with, and for quite some time now. Basically, you just install F4 from CD, then install FF3. Done. Almost kinda like installing LockOn 1.0 and then adding FC 1.1, only different names. Really, F4 has become THAT easy. Eye candy? Well, yes, FF3/CobraOne does add weather effects and such, and yes, the clouds, weather, and new gfx effects look great too, but really, F4 has come a long way! Oh, and F4 hasn't lost anything from the original. Some even say it has gained too much. It is definitely a high fidelity sim and I guess the learning curve has been raised over the years, but it is also good the technology we now have allows such a bird to be brought SO close to us. Anything even remotely based on F4 is more than welcome on my machine! arraamis Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Another Quickie about F4: "I've finially gotten around to putting together a one click installer for SP4.2. Gone are the days of the SP series dance. Its now install from CD, run the SP4.2 OCI and go fly SP4.2. BMS downloads are independant still, this is a SP series release only." ***Mucho Thanks to Ktel {Who made this possible}*** At: frugalsworld.com
hassata Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 F4 with the various user mods and some payware (hitiles and tom's cockpit) was sweet. The only thing that turned me off is the FPS problem, even on todays machines. Over the battle line things still slow down. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MBot Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Excellent news. Any new flightsim is good news for the community. I am looking forward to learn more about the improved AI, Comms and ATC ( let's prey for FAC ). It seems the F-16 simulation marked seems yet again to get crowded in the future...
4c Hajduk Veljko Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I am buying it only AND only if there are flyables MiG-29 or Su-27! After all, that theatar of operations is about my country! So the only way I could play that game is to fly MiG-29 and defend my country! 1 Thermaltake Kandalf LCS | Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R | Etasis ET750 (850W Max) | i7-920 OC to 4.0 GHz | Gigabyte HD5850 | OCZ Gold 6GB DDR3 2000 | 2 X 30GB OCZ Vertex SSD in RAID 0 | ASUS VW266H 25.5" | LG Blue Ray 10X burner | TIR 5 | Saitek X-52 Pro | Logitech G930 | Saitek Pro flight rudder pedals | Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Prophet_169th Posted April 27, 2005 Author Posted April 27, 2005 Well it does show a few screens of a MiG. So I am going to assume, they have added some real flyables, vs just adding the skins and cockpits to the F16. 1
Bug11 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 The good thing is that we don't have to do the patch dance anymore. Bad thing is that the hatesimfanboi folks will start up again......................... Start up again with what exactly? I'm not sure I understand what you are talking about. 1
Bug11 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Ditto. Looks like crap. F4 never felt like i was flying like i get in lockon and IL2 series. The falcon 4 boys call it fly by wire, I call it crap. :) I guess you'd know better than real Viper pilots ;)
Bug11 Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Start up again with what exactly? I'm not sure I understand what you are talking about. I had a reputation point removed because I asked this question. WHY? 1
Stormin Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I had a reputation point removed because I asked this question. WHY? How do you "remove" a reputation point? 1
Guest ruggbutt Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I guess you'd know better than real Viper pilots ;) Many of us have flown in aircraft and some have flown in fast small aircraft. F4 doesn't feel like "flight" does. As far as the Viper pilot comment, Su pilots say LOMAC feels real. So who's "righter"?:D
GGTharos Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I guess you'd know better than real Viper pilots ;) You only need to be a passenger on an airliner to know that this is propaganda. F4 flies like it's on rails, the real thing has to deal with very dynamic situations whereas simulators just run on computed and highly predictable behavior for the most part. Don't believe me? It's ok - watch a HUD tape, it speaks volumes if you keep a close eye on the details. F4 is a good simulator, I don't think anyone disputes this ... but does the flight model reflect the fidelity that even LOMAC's SFM does, let alone the AFM? No ;) I also find that, in a networked game, LOMAC offers much more immersion for me, and frankly the graphics are a HUGE part of this - again, for me. Some people are the other way around and they don't care for graphics at all (But I don't completely believe that, either) ... fighting is a modern jet fighter is about seeing stuff, not about pushing switches - the switches are there, yes, they're your tools, they need to be operated, they generate a demand on your mental faculties. But once your switches are set ... it's all about the Mk1 Eyeball and F4 is absolutely HORRIBLE (as is any old sim :P ) when it comes to that. To clarify: I don't screw around with all the nifty radar options, external light options, comm options (now this part sucks, managing your wingmen is pretty bad in LOMAC), whatever-the-heck-else options ... I'm not looking sdown at my radar, I may glance at the RWR, but that's about all the 'heads down' activity that I'll commit when the opposing fighter is visible - from there on it's close-combat radar modes which are very easy to handle, choice of weapon, and chaff and flares (aside from actually flying the aircraft) and of course, keeping your eyes on target. Are you saying that F4 does this better than LOMAC? Of course, if you're saying that it does just about everything else better, I'll have to agree: We all know that LOMAC is missing a huge slew of features which we would like to have available. We won't see them in LOMAC, but ED seeming to be poised to deliver an F-4 like product with LOMAC-like FM's and Graphics, while simultaneously improving upon sensor and weapon physics modelling. Will they deliver? Who knows - I certainly HOPE they do ... because I find LOMAC very enjoyable :D Disclaimer: That's just my opinion, of course, it may eb wise to seek a second and a third opinion as well ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
bflagg Posted April 28, 2005 Posted April 28, 2005 Hopefully this is satisfactory with the Falcon community, they have as much or even more drama than the Flanker/Lock On crowd. :D Amen to that! Thanks, Brett
