ED Team Yo-Yo Posted September 6, 2010 ED Team Posted September 6, 2010 question re flight model: is it modelled that the plane flips if you apply too much rudder ? cheers, NotiA10 Of course YES... we did not tried to model this EFFECT. It's the model intrinsic property and it was very surprising for the testers... somebody said that it's weird :) 2 Ніщо так сильно не ранить мозок, як уламки скла від розбитих рожевих окулярів There is nothing so hurtful for the brain as splinters of broken rose-coloured spectacles. ED Team Yo-Yo Posted September 6, 2010 ED Team Posted September 6, 2010 How many people are working on the flight model? You can take a look at the credits for DCS BS but just in case - AFM-2 flight dynamics and the main flight systems like engines, hydro, fuel is being made only by two persons. VMFA117_Poko Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010  I always use the rudder for turns!!! And you use full rudder to turn?
Eddie Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010  I always use the rudder for turns!!! Well then you'll have to learn to fly the hog properly when you get your hands on it. The hog flies like a dream, but only if you put in the time and effort required to learn it's handling characteristics and flight envelope.

Scabbers Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 anyone remember an atrocious game called USAF. and starting training on the ramp at nellis in a hog? Now where is that speed brakes control again? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Succellus Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) anyone remember an atrocious game called USAF. and starting training on the ramp at nellis in a hog? I remenber but did not own him. Didn t appeal to me at the time, altohught i was already simming. On another note, it seems we will finally have some really nice flying on a civilian game. This seem wondrous. I wish i was born 10 years after when i did so i could live longer to see this evolve, even the sim cockpits are becoming way more affordable, even if not cheaps. Scabbers Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 it will be nice to have a hog game with a nice fm. and not some piece of crap Now where is that speed brakes control again? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bfeld Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 You can take a look at the credits for DCS BS but just in case - AFM-2 flight dynamics and the main flight systems like engines, hydro, fuel is being made only by two persons. So, concerning the topic: The flight model. Yo-Yo, you mentioned AFM-2 etc., I hoped to read some news about what's happening in the background, but there was also no word on the new website. I'm not the one who knows how to fly. I'm just very interested in physics engines, dynamics modelling, etc.. Any chance to get some insight about improvements made (like FM and the overall "world physics")? Bye, Torsten

Bye, Torsten If you want to know what differences are in AFM-2 or AFM-M (or something similar names for new FM :) since Ka-50) you can try to search the forum because as far as I remember I wrote some info about it. I try to present the newest featers as I have time for it. There are notes on FM basics at our web site as well. There are two AFMs now - AFM for Su-25/25T and AFM-M :) for Ka-50. AFM-M has thermodynamics model for engine and highly detailed systems models that allows to consider it the second generation. Looking forward I can say that A-10C in its turn has some improvements in comparison with AFM-M. Regarding your last sentence, maybe you got me wrong: FM basics are clear, I read all the information on the DCS/LockOn/TBS-Sites. I was more relating to improvements since FC2.0 / BS 1.02, like if there are improvements to FM, atmospheric model, radio com. modelling, thermodynamics (thanks Bucic for the citation!). Hydraulic-, electric-, fuelsystem and others were explained in detail for Su-25 and BS, so I was just wondering if something changed, because it was not mentioned on the new website.
ED Team Yo-Yo Posted September 8, 2010 ED Team Posted September 8, 2010 Ok. I can only say that hydraulic, electric and fuel systems were significantly advanced for Ka-50. We are about to add new functionality to the electrical system (you may suggest what it will be). I can say that control surfaces will be reworked to get them more interesting and realistic behaviour in MRFCS. I will not explain details not to spoil effect from the future video and I think the video will be more impressive than my explanations. 1 Ніщо так сильно не ранить мозок, як уламки скла від розбитих рожевих окулярів There is nothing so hurtful for the brain as splinters of broken rose-coloured spectacles.
